A. Gonzalez Sr., of Perry received
he Master of Divinity degree on
Fuly 25 at New Orleans Baptist
rheological Seminary.
Gonzalez, married to Marilia
Gonzalez of Perry, is the son of
Aurea Perry of Orlando, Fla., and
;he late Ferdinand Gonzalez.
Gonzalez’s home church is
First Baptist Church in Perry. He
tolds an undergraduate degree in
listory from the Inter-American
University in Carolina, Puerto
lico.
The seminary is owned and
supported by the Southern Baptist
Convention.
Carter to teach Sunday
school class

Church in Plains on Aug. 3 and 17
and Sept. 28.
Visitors are asked to be seated
in the sanctuary by 9:30 a.m. It
takes about 75 minutes to drive
from Perry to Plains via
Montezuma and Americus.

New Pentecostal Church
hosting revival
The New Pentecostal Church
family invites everyone to their
Holy Ghost-filled revival, sched
uled for Aug. 10- 15, 7:30 p.m.
nightly. The revival will climax
on Aug., 17, 11:30 a.m.

Henzlers receive advanced
seminary degrees
CAMILLA The Rev. F.D.
Henzler and his wife, Marie of
Perry, each received an advanced
degree from Andersonville
Baptist Seminary in Camilla.
On July 29, they were congrat
ulated by Jimmy L. Hayes, semi
nary president, on their academic
work. Both graduated Summa
Cum Laude. F.D. Henzler
received the doctor of ministry
degree, and Marie Henzler
received a master of Christian
education degree.
F.D.Henzler is the regional
director for Baptist Church
Planters. Marie Henzler travels
with him, as he covers the seven
Southeastern states. She helps the
wives of pastors and aids her hus
band in the ministry.
After a number of years lin the
pastorate, they started Anchor
Baptist Church in Lithonia. The
mission then asked him to go on
the road for them.
Ten years ago, they had the
choice of living anywhere in the
Southeast of the United States,
and they said they chose to move
to Perry.
They have visited the foreign
mission field and studied in
Jordan and Jerusalem, but they
both said they feel that Perry is
the best place in the world to live.
Church hosting single
recreation night
CENTERVILLE Single
adults, ages 18 through 99, are
invited to stop by the Family Life
Center of First Baptist Church in
Centerville at 108 Church St.,
Aug. 8, between 7:30 and 11 p.m.,
for an evening of fun and fellow
ship
The S.A.R.N is held monthly
(remaining 1997 dates are: Sept.
5, Oct. 3, and Nov. 14). This is an
unstructured, drop-in type recre
ation night, according to church
officials.
The goal is to provide middle
Georgia single adults a place to
gather. Activities available: vol
leyball, ping pong, basketball,
fooze ball, air hockey,various
table games, fellowship, and
refreshments.
Church officials do not provide
child care tpid children are not
invited.

first Kids Kamp, leaving Aug. 10
after church and returning by 3
p.m. on Aug. 13.

members of Houston Lake Baptist
Church will travel to First Baptist
Church of Hayneville to hold
evening worship service at 6:30
p.m., with the members of that
Church.
On the night of Aug. 17, First
Baptist Church of Hayneville
members will attend services at
Houston Lake Baptist to worship
with that congregation.
A time of refreshment will fol
low each service, interim pastor,
Winfred Huff, said.

began serving as interim pastor on
Aug. 3.

asked to donate clean used or new
blankets to fair workers. First
Baptist Church will be collecting
them during the month of August
(in the church library) to be given
out during the month of October.

A Back to School Apple Tree is
located in the atrium of First
Baptist Church to furnish school
supplies for the children at the
Meansville Children’s Home.
Each “apple” will have a list of
school supplies needed and the
approximate cost of $5.
Members are asked to “pick”
an apple and bring the supplies to
the box provided in the church
library. Cash donations will be
accepted in the church office.

“Feed My Sheep II” cook
books are now available for pur
chase from Debi Hutchens, of the
First Baptist Church office, for
$8.50. All proceeds go toward
outreach projects such as the
Spanish Mission and the New
Care Center.

NEW CENTER OPENS The new Women's Center of Houston
Medical Center of Warner Robins opened Aug. 7 amid a ribbon cut
ting ceremony and recognition for a long-time doctor in the communi
ty. Handling the official cutting of the riobon (above) are Hal Cotton
(center), former chairman of the Houston County Hospital Authority,
and current Hospital Authority Chairman Jimmy Fairdoth. Members of
the Authority and hospital friends are gathered around the podium at
the facility. Recognized during the ceremonies (right picture) by Hal
Cotton was long-time Houston County physician Carl L. Beard (left),
who holds a plaque which will hang in the Women's Center. The
plaque recognizes Beard as an obstetrician-gynecologist, a charter
member of tne Medical Center medical staff, and a member of the
Hospital Authority from 1987-1995.
