Houston County coroner Daniel Galpin
said the panel speculated that Head took
the action with the thought that it might
lead to her being released.
A simple majority opinion is all that is required at
such inquests to render a decision Galpin said the
panel is not required to say whether the finding was
unanimous.
The victim's lamily earlier tiled a S 2 million law
suit against Houston Counts, claiming that the coun
ty ssas negligent and did not take steps that might
have presented the death
Galpin said the inquest ends the criminal proceed
ings in the matter, but the option ot civil actions is
still available. "That is the avenue the family is fol
low mg with its lawsuit." he added.
Coroner's inquests are rare in Houston Counts.
We average less than one a year." Galpin said
