today."
Those are the words of a lady
who heads up two charitable ser
vices in south Houston County.
Alvalyn Pope
She spoke to members ol the
Perry Exchange Club recently
about Project Agape love and
Loaves and Fishes.
"PAL helps the less fortunate
in our community have a brighter
Christmas," she said
During 1997. some 307 people
registered to receive gifts in the
program, which has been in oper
ation in Perry for more than 20
years, according to Pope

HELPING OTHERS Perry High School April Fend ley is shown
with one of the cans she has placed in several local businesses. She
is seeking donations that will go toward providing funds for Camp
Can Do and Special Olympics. Fendiey's project has been endorsed
the the Perry mayor ana city council. Patrons to businesses that have
the cans in place on their counter are asked to help the high school
senior by plocing monetary donations in the cans.
