RESTITUTION The Rev. Tom Teate (left), pastor of Grovania
United Methodist Church, receives a check from John Trussed, Chief
Probation Officer for Houston County (center) while Ernie Kuhns of the
probation office watches. The check represents part of the restitution
which has been paid to the Grovania church after a Houston County
resident was convicted of arson. The fire occurred several years ago,
and the convicted person has been under probation rules for some
time. Part of the judgement is that the person must provide about
$20,000 in restitution to the church. Trussed said that probation works
and that the person found guilty in the case has now repaid about
$ 10,000 of the money.
