Perry Library to gain $33,000 for new books

The Georgia legislature's 1448 supple
mental budget made it over one more hur
dle on Monday when a joint committee of
House and Senate leaders gave it their
stamp of approval.
Among those on the

Larry Walker. D-Perry,
and Senate
Appropriations
Chairman. Sen George
Hooks. Americus.
Walker said that
about SlO million
remains in the supplemental budget for
Perry projects, including $7,967,000 for a
new multi-purpose exhibit building, and
$935,000 for South Gate improvements at
the Georgia National Fairgrounds.
Additionally. $75,000 (not $750,000 as
reported last week) is in the budget lor
improvements at the Perry/Houston County
Airport
There is at least a possibility til more
lunds coming to the local airport. Walker
said Nearly $35 million in matching lunds
is in the supplemental budget lor improvc
approval now. will increase the holdings of
Georgia's libraries bv approximately
450.000 volumes
