Folks in Pern do not have to take the advice of a
groundhog regarding the advent ot Spring
They can tell it is time lor that season because ot
the yellow bows that begin to show up all over town,
an indicator that Perry 's own spring festival is near
The lOth Annual Dogwood Festival is now just
sn weeks away and plans are already in place to
make it a memorable event.

.will be held April 4 this year
The Chamber agreed to oversee the Festival last
year alter long-time orgam/er Karen Nikitopolous
decided to retire trom that position
"We are hoping to have good weather and hope
everyone comes to enjoy it." said Kinnas
One change will be that the Festival will be a one
day affair this year instead ot two.
For the past several years, the Festival was a
Saturday and Sunday event, with downtown activi
ties on Saturday and games and competition such as
the Pci Parade being held at Ro/ar Park on Sunday
Kinnas said the change this year will allow the

The April 4 events will include a downtown arts
and cratts festival, parade. 5K run/I mile walk

prepared by the Kiwarns Club ot Perry. Miss
Dogwood pageants. Faster Bunny pictures and
Dogwood Festival Sottball Tournament
Kinnas said a Dogwood Golf Festival will be held
April 3 at the Perry Country Club
"This will be a four-person scramble golt tourna
ment and will include lunch." said Kinnas
