Bringing back the gracious living

Pari of the community of
Henderson located in south
Houston County is undergoing
some changes.
Planners and developers of
about 12 acres of land in this
small community hope that by the
first of June their project. Ole
Town Henderson, also known as
Henderson Village, will be com
plete
Work on this project has been
ongoing tor the past couple of
years and. if everything goes as
planned, the Village will be ready
to offer guests a combination of
country inn setting with luxurious
accommodations, according to
President and General Manager
David Dew
And though IX*w would not
say exactly how much has been
put financially into this project in
Henderson, he did say that much
time and effort has been and is
going into making the Village a
success.
"Our concept is to create a
complete village." said Dew
The Village will be complete
with sidewalks connecting the
gracious homes that will provide
accommodations for guests, a for
mal garden, a large pool, a world
class restaurant, and an area lor
petting animals, said Dew.

Local contractor Chip Shelton
has been busy restoring the oider
homes m the Village. Some of
these older southern homes, about
14 m all. have been moved from
other places
One many Perryans will
remember is the Brunson house
that was located next to
Nationsßank along Northside
Drive Another is the Wynne
home, moved from Unadilla
The home belonging to the
Newberry family of Henderson is
one of those being renovated.
These large homes, along with
several small tenant-type houses,
have undergone extensive reno
vation from the Shelton team,
then decorated by a designer from

the guidance of Taylor, who has a
collection of tools and items his
lather used and made and a good
memory with which to guide
workers who are seeking to make
the shop look as it did many years
ago
Taylor said his lathet would
have been happy to know his shop
and the older way of life was
being preserved in such a way
today
As a matter of fact. Taylor said
present residents seem to he very
happy with the special project in
