New Life Church planning several events for community youth

New Life of Perry, a United
Pentecostal Church, has plans for
several upcoming events. The
church is along U.S. 4IS, 2.8
miles past Westfield School on
the left. For more information,

• May 21 and 22 New Life
of Perry will be carrying a group
to New Life of Albany to attend a
concert with the McGruders.
There is no charge for each con
cert starting nightly at 7:30 p.m.
• May 22 and 23 New Life
Singles will be going to Atlanta
West U.P.C. for a district singles
retreat. For more information,
call the church.
• May 24 Sunday Special
at 10 a.m. Worship Service in
main sanctuary.
• May 29 Friday Youth
Alive at 7:30 p.m. in mam sanc
tuary.
• May 30 Saturday New
Life Yard Sale sponsored by the
Ladies Auxiliary. Yard sale will

Sympathy to the Perry friends
of Gladys Smith, widow of the
Rev J.B. Smith, who died May 12
at Church Home of the Aged.
They will be interested to know
that her daughter. Margaret Peed,
is Doctor of Naturopathy and
edited “Fountain of Age" by
Betty Friedan in 1993. Her hus
band, Charles, is a retired
Presbyterian minister and they
live in Maine and Albuquerque.
She has daughters. Kathy, who
teaches music in Connecticut and
Carol, a nurse in Arizona, and
son, Andrew, who is Doctor of
Interna! Medicine in Seattle
Margaret is a member of the PHS
Class of 1949 which is planning a
50th high school reunion next
summer.
Dan Smith was a classmate
with PHS Class of 1956. He has
an administrative position with
the Methodist Conference. His
son who is a musician in
Jacksonville attended the funeral.
Danny has three other sons and a
daughter, and he and his wife live
in Seattle.

recipe may come in handy this
holiday weekend to cool us off.
Buttermilk Sherbet
Makes 6 servings
1 cup crushed pineapple
2 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup sugar
A few grains salt
1 unbeaten egg white
Drain most of the juice from
the pineapple. Combine the but
termilk, pineapple, sugar and salt.
Pour into refrigerator tray. Freeze
quickly at lowest temperature.
When almost frozen, remove
from tray, break up using an elec
tric beater and add unbeaten egg
white. Whip until light and fluffy.
Return to refrigerator tray. Serve
when firm.
