Relay requires leaders and
many, many followers
Observations on the 1998
Relay for Life from one who par
ticipated for the first time as a
member of a team It takes some
leaders and many, mans follow
ers.
Perry is fortunate to have Sue
Fleming and Peggy Bledsoe in
charge. Some $36,591 was raised
under their direction. Carol
Hayes was just who the
Ridgewood Park neighborhood
needed to be a successful team to
raise $2,100. Wesley Wise was
comfortably attired in pajamas
and robe supporting his team like
the survivor he is.
We have a whole year to be
ready to do it again. Everybody is
a member of some organization
which can make up a team:
church, civic club, social club,
neighborhood, company, schintl
or youth group
Just $lO will get you a place
on a team and a T-shirt to wear to
walk. How much you raise for
cancer research is up to you
more is better This is an excel
lent way to honor or remember a
loved one.
If you have a talent, volunteer
it as so many folks did to help us
through the night. Once you par
ticipate. you won't want to miss
it. Plan ahead Just do it. Same
time, same place, next year See
you there
