Free youth tennis lessons
Tennis enthusiast Catesby Dotson
and the Perry Kiwams Club have
agreed with the Perry Recreation
Department to offer free tennis lessons
this summer to youth ages 9-18
Prior to even stepping on the court,
lessons of court etiquette will be
addressed Each child will need a
sleeve of balls, a racquet and a will to
learn
Lessons for all ages will beheld on
Monday and Thursdays with youth
ages 9-12 from 9 a m until 11 a m and
13 and older from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
The program is due to begin the June
15 and run through July 30

Sullivan Environmental pro
vides trash and recyclable pick
up for Houston County residents.
The company also provides com
mercial pick-up for businesses in
the city of Perry
The system used in the county
for household garbage pick-up
would be similar to w hat could be
provided for Perry residents, said
Gray.
An automated truck would use
a mechanical arm to pick up and
dump the cart Placement of the
cart by the curb is very important,
said Gray.
The company would mark a
place for residents to place their
cart on pick-up day. he said
If recycling is chosen as a ser
vice. the customer would be pro
vided with an 18-gallon bin.
Items such as aluminum and
tin cans, plastics and newspapers
can be placed in this bin
Recyclables are picked up
twice a month
Yard waste service includes
pick-up of leaves and pine straw,
grass clippings, brush, shrubs,
tree trimmings. Christmas trees,
and other vegetative materials.
Leaves, grass clippings, pine
straw, pine cones, tree and shrub
bery trimmings and other small
pieces would need to be bagged
and scaled, according to company
instructions
Bulk waste removal can also
be provided. This includes
removal of items such as stoves,
water tanks, washing machines
and dryers.
Bulk waste is picked up no
more than twice a month.

I can close my eyes and bring it
all back playing noisy (and just
a little scarry) games in the grow
ing shadows, while the grownups,
talked on and on about how hot it
was and how the farmers needed
rain. Then the fireflies would come
out in the yard and the stars would
start making their legendary pat
terns in the sky. and we would
hope that nobody would remember
that it was time for us to go to bed.
I don’t remember any teacher
ever asking us to write down
“What I did on my summer vaca
tion.” We would all probably have
sat there, chewing on our pencils
and wondering what to write
down.

frog, but the frog never showed
up.”
