Mrs. Andrews. 95. died
Sunday. June 28. 1998 She was a
native ol Worth County and had
lived in Perry lor Ift years. The
widow ol George F. Andrews, she
was a homemaker and member of
Sharon Primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children.

ter. P.dna Moll of Atlanta: three
grandchildren, eight great-grand
children and a great-great- grand

during their June 25 meeting in
Warner Robins.

wins USDA
lunchroom award

The Houston County School
System has been named a 1998
Best Practices Winner by the
United States Department of
Agriculture lor innovation in
their school nutrition programs.
Along with Banks County,
Houston County was one of two
winners of this national award in
Georgia.
Houston County Schools
received the commendation for
using innovative awards and
incentives to increase the morale
and productivity of food service
staff, which resulted in a signifi
cant savings due to decreased
absenteeism.
In announcing the awards.
State Supl. of Schools Linda C.
Schrcnko said. "Good nutrition
prepares our students to do their
best in the classroom. I offer my
warmest congratulations to both
Banks and Houston County
School Systems.
“These winners and their
stalcw ide peers are an often over
looked group of professionals
who help quality education
everyday for all of Georgia’s
children." she said.

Mr. Knight, a retired mechanic,
died on Monday. June 29. 1998. at
the age of 85.
He was employed by George
C. Nunn & Son for 39 years, and
was a member, former deacon,
treasurer and Sunday School
teacher at Memorial Heights
Baptist Church. He was a mem
ber of the Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include his wile.
Ollic Knight; children. Mary Farr
of Bonaire. Jean Jarrctt of
Altamonte Springs. Fla.; Lois
Scarborough of Centerville and
Kenneth Knight of Warner
Robins; brother and sisters.
Martin Knight and Myrtle Riley

Atlanta and Eunice Sellers of
Sylvania; nine grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren.

have now purchased 10 additional
acres of land at the Park. This is
part of their plan for a $6.5 million
expansion, said Martin.
The company; provides preci
sion machining work for aero
space companies, he added.
The expansion will mean an
additional 25 employees and will
add 6.000 square feet to the facili
ty. said Martin.
Also, Parrish Georgia, another
company located at the Park, has
purchased about 12 acres of addi
tional land.
Martin said that company will
be using the property to expand
their yard work Parrish Georgia
constructs concrete buildings
Talks with local entities such as
the Perry-Houston County Airport
and the Regional Development
Authority have been ongoing as a

Pierce died Monday. June 29,

A native of Arkansas, she was a
former resident of Greensboro,
N.C. She was a homemaker and

Holy Church.
The widow of Willie Pierce,
she is survived by her children.

St. James C.M.E. Church, with
burial in Kings Chapel C.M.E.
Cemetery. Mrs. Sims died on
Friday. June 26. 1998

mation about strengths and weak
nesses in the area, he said, looking
especially at the land around the
airport and how upgrades to the
airport could attract new industiy.
The area around the Airport
may he of value in promoting this
area as a multi-county industrial
site, said Martin. "Especially now
that the Mid-Georgia Corporate
Center (former Northrop proper
ly) is an available facility."
The airport is located in two
counties, Houston and Peach
county, hut is funded mainly by
the city of Perry and Houston
County.
Peach County decided to halt
provision ol funds from that coun
ty to the facility a couple of years
ago.
