To: Members. American Legion-Department of Georgia
from: Jim Worrall. Mayor. City of Perry
The welcome mat is always oul at the "Crossroads of Georgia" but I deem
it a very special privilege to extend to each Georgia Legionnaire a very special
welcome to the Cm of Perry and the Georgia National Fairgrounds.
Perry is located where three major United States highways intersect and
where the new Georgia Golden Isles Parkway begins. The city has always
been noted as an outstanding tourist center as well as one of the slate's more
progressive cities
You will find the people in our community friendly and outgoing and they
are pleased to have you visiting with us You will be welcomed in our church
es. our community centers, in our completely restored downtown area, and
throughout the entire city.
Please feel free to call our city hall, the Chamber of Commerce, or our
Convention and Visitors Bureau for information concerning the many attrac
tions in the Middle Georgia area. And if you have some spare time, come visit
me at city hall. I enjoy meeting visitors to our community—especially fellow
legionnaires.

Perry, Ga.
July 15, 1998
The Perry Area Chamber of Commcree would like to welcome the 2.000 members of the Georgia
American Legion convention to Perry' Since 1955. the Perry Chamber and its over 350 member husi-
nesses have been working to promote commerce and enhance the quality of
life for citizens of the Perry area. We also work hard to promote the City of
Perry and the entire South Houston County area to visitors and we welcome
any questions you may have about Perry. Please let use know how we can be
of service and we will be glad to tell you about all the great opportunities we
have for shopping, dining and reereation here in the Perry area.
We feel that Perry is one of the best small towns in American, maintaining
a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere and lifestyle while boasting many of
the amenities found in larger cities. Both the City of Perry and Houston
County have the kind of can-do attitude that has allowed our area to prosper.
Mirroring the tremendous growth of the entire state. Perry has added many
hotels, restaurants and retail stores as well as a full-service Welcome Center
since the opening of the Georgia National Fairgrounds in 1990. The
Agricenter alone hosted over 750.000 visitors to our area last year and we are
looking forward to even more visitors this year. Pern, is no recent entrant into
the tourism and travel industry, having sat on U S. Highway 41 well before
the completion of our current interstate system. Travelers have been visiting
and slaying in Perry since the early 1800's.
We again welcome all of you here in Perry and hope to hear from you during your stay. Located con
veniently at the Perry Welcome Center across the street from the Georgia National Fairgrounds and
Agricenter, the Chamber is open Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., or you can give us a call at
987-12,34- For those of you who are on the world wide web. our web address is www.pcrry
georgia.com. We have a full listing of all our Chamber members on our web-site, conveniently arranged
by business type. Have a great visit to Perry and we look forward to seeing all of you here again real
