Pondering
With Kellogg
Patton
So what’s next
When you first try to eat fresh
fruit every day from when you
arise in the morning until noon,
eat lots of fruit.
One person gave up after 24
hours saying fresh fruit just didn’t
satisfy his hunger. When asked
what he ate, he replied “An
apple."
Just one apple? In five hours?
Wrong! So, how much do you
eat? TYy a minimum of two serv
ings of fruit every hour. When
your stomach growls, feed it
more fresh fruit.
My eating habits change with
my work schedule. So will yours.
On Monday, Wednesday, and
Fridays from 6 until 11 in the
morning I coach the year ’round
adult lap and Masters swim pro
gram at Memorial Park in Warner
Robins.
Asa competitive swimmer
myself, this is also my training
time. I eat fresh fruit when I
swim.
For the past two years, break
fast is usually five or six fresh
juiced organic carrots and two or
three medium apples. It makes
about 2 cups.
I mix four tablespoons of
Barley Green product with one
cup of juice; swish each gulp in
my mouth for 5 seconds; then
swallow. .
Here is a sampling of the vari
ety of fruits I carry to the pool in
my cooler on a seasonal basis.
V Three cups of cut up honey
dew melon, cantaloupe, or seed
less watermelon. As melons must
be eaten before other fruits, I eat
these before it’s my tum to swim.
V I also eat two cups of seed
less red grapes no matter what the
price per pound is. I try to
remember to chew each grape 35-
50 times before swallowing.
VBy 11 a.m.. I’ve eaten one
apple and saved one for on the
way home or to my next job at the
local grocery store.
So, when I tell you to try eat
ing fresh fruit until noon, I mean
more than just one apple. Be pre
pared to visit the bathroom on a
regular basis. This elimination
cycle is the key to this eating pro
gram or lifestyle regularity.
That’s regularity naturally, not
synthetically from a pill in a box.
So, what Is next? The second
cycle of digestion, the appropria
tion cycle is from noon to 8 p.m.
I am a food-aholic who always
found excuses for breaking the
rules I didn’t want to follow.
I often work or teach until 10
p.m. My natural tendency is to eat
when I get home. My personal
integrity and honesty broke down
many many times to satisfy that
urge to eat late at night.
Then I discovered I put inches
back on my waist when I eat after
8 p.m. I've seriously altered my
behavior and eating habits. It’s
hard! 1 may pig out at 7:59 p.m.
but 8 p.m. is tne cutotl. When my
pants didn’t fit, I found my
strength and just said no!
What do you eat now?
Basically, anything except do not
eat a meat and a starch together.
Meat is anything from an animal.
A starch is rice, pasta, bread/bak
ery goods, potato, com, beans,
legumes, and so forth.
This means no tuna sandwich.
Subway, McD’s, BK, or fast
food. Oh no!
To be continued...

thesis on nutrition.)
