this week and looked to the future for even more pro
duction opportunities.
Speaking from the company Integrated Systems
and Aerostructions Sector office in Dallas, Rick
Mailem, Boeing senior manager and door product
director praised the completion of the I,oooth air
craft door at the plant IK months after production
began

remarkable achievement," Mattem said.

Police arrested a Perry man Oct. 13 and charged
him for possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
The accused, Michael Antonio Walker of 707
Walcott St., in Perry, was taken into custody after
having been observed acting suspiciously near the
corners of Bradley and Gardener streets
Walker remains in jail.
Meanwhile, police are investigating several inci
dents in the Tucker Road area. During recent weeks
incidents involving slashed tires and missing stop
signs have been reported.
On Oct. 13. a Hi Merest Avenue resident reported
someone set her mailbox on fire. Captain Phelps of
the Perry Police said the neighborhood watch should

publications designed to boost the
city, said Chris Kinnas. Chamber

be sold in coming weeks, with the
local Chamber receiving a per
centage on all ad sales.

and retired after 25 years of teach
ing school in both Houston
County Schools and Westfield
Schools
Mrs Chapman was past presi
dent ol the Perry Hospital Ladies
Auxiliary, a member of the Perry
United Methodist Church and the
Howell Cobb Sunday School
Class, and a former Sunday
school teacher.
She is survived by her hus
band. William “Bill” Chapman ol
Perry; three daughters Claire
Chapman of Perry, Lane
Chapman of Atlanta and Angela
Gilman of Perry; and two grand
children.

Boeing awarded Northrop Grumman a contract lor
production of 2K doors loi the 7*7 757 and 767 air
planes, in addition to doors already being built for
the 747
Six months ago, the company won a contract for
two additional 747 doors, and Northrop Grumman
consolidated all passenger and cargo door produc
lion for the Boeing contract in perry.
Now, the local plant has won another contract
with Boeing. This ordet calls for the workers in
Perry to build the main deck cargo door for the
Boeing freight version ol the 737 The contract calls
for construction of six door styles with potential fot
other projects in the future. Northrop spokesman
Georgia Engle reported

SIO.(XX) belonging to Zebs Zip In was taken from the
car. Finger prints were taken from the auto and the
case continues to be under investigation.
