job when Dennard hired him in
19X4 at the age of 24 He worked
at Boeing Machine Products as a
machinist before beginning his
police work.
The police department job,
Bray said was fulfillment of an
almost lifelong dream. He said he

work when he was eight years
old
Bray said he picked up vatu
able training during the days tol
lowing the bombing of the
Centennial Olympic Games in
Atlanta.
"I was transferred to Atlanla
shortly after the bomb blast
Bray recalled. “I was able to
work with the Solec Command a
concentration of international,
federal, state, county and mumci
pal agencies providing security in
Atlanta during the 1996 Summer
Olympic Games.
Besides his parents. Bray
gives credit to several local law
enforcement officers for setting
an example for him Among them
are Jim West, Benny Redman,
Roy Lee Mathis, Perry Assistant
Chief Roy Shelnutl, former
Police Sgt. Charles Lewis, Willie
B Johnson and particularly Ray
Jackson.
Jackson and Bray were
involved in a shootout several
years ago which resulted in
injury to Jackson
Bray had praise tor members
of the Perry Police Department
for the positive influence they
had on his law enforcement
career.
Of the GPS A award. Bray said
“Great. It is one of the greatest
honors of my career.”
Bray also said “Id like to thank

Trussell. I don't want to take all
the credit myself so many people
helped me gel to where I am m my

Public Hearing
The Houston County LLEBG Advisory
Board will hold a public hearing at
10:00 a.m. on Tuesday/ November 3/
1998/ at the Perry City Hall in Perry,
Georgia. The purpose of this hearing
will be to review Houston County's pro
posed use of $64/483 in Local Law
Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG) funds.
The public will be given an opportunity
to provide written and oral comments
regarding the proposed use of LLEBG
funds.
