Hornets
showed local fans why as Milledge took advan
tage of another Westfield turnover opening the
second half.
The Trojans got the ball at Westfield’s 24 after
recovering a fumble and an offside penalty on
Westfield moved it to the 19. Stephens hit Brad
Hobbs for 13 yards, then went back to his bread
and-butter receiver, hitting Elliot for the score
from seven yards out.
Hobbs’ point after made it 21-14 as the
shocked Westfield fans looked on. The second
half was just one minute old!
An exchange of punts later, the Hornets
marched in for their fourth score of the game.
With the ball at the John Milledge 42 after a
13-yard punt return by Walker, Shell picked up a
quick nine and two plays later bolted for 12 more
and a first down at the John Milledge 21-yard
line.
After Walker got six yards. Shell exploded for
the final 15 yards and a touchdown. Again,
Skinner was perfect on the point after kick, giving
the Hornets a little breathing room with a 28-14
lead.
That was as close as the Trojans could get.
Westfield increased the lead to 35-14 on their
next possession after forcing another Trojan punt.
Shell picked up 25 yards and Walker 52 on a
six-play drive with Walker going the final 23
yards for his third touchdown of the game and
Skinner quickly made it 35-14.
Stephens hit Elliot for another touchdown to
cut the lead again, but freshman Chance Jones got
it right back with a 17-yard touchdown scamper
with 2:51 left in the game.
