Davis, Bricken vows
exchanged in Perry
Jennifer Leigh Davis and John
Benjamin Bricken 111 were united
in marriage at the Perry United
Methodist Church on May 30.
The Rev. Dr. Marcus Tripp con
ducted the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Arlan Davis
of Perry . The groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. John Benjamin
Bricken, Jr., of Montgomery,
Alabama.

served as maid of honor.

and Pheraby Smith, great aunt
and uncle of the bride; Dr. Dudley
and Linda Christie, and Foster
and Martha Ann Rhodes. Servers
were Cathy Clay Auslander,
Angie Bennett, Whitney Christie,
Wanda Davis, Amy Fincher, Joye
Goodwin, Mandi Posey, Mindy
Rhodes, Jill Shepley Richards,
Bunny Roberts, Bristol Davis
Shelton, Toni Smith and Ali
Campbell Turley. Rice and rose
petal attendants were Mary
Frances Powell. Elizabeth Powell
and Charlie Powell, cousins of
the groom. The bride’s book was
kept by Jenny Smith. Jennifer
Nunn was pianist.
The rehearsal dinner was held
at Houston I -ake Country Club
ana was hosted ny the groom s
parents. After a wedding trip to
Banff, Canada, the couple is liv
ing in Atlanta.
Christmas holiday day camp draws many youths

Last minute shoppers had a
safe haven this year thanks to the
Perry Recreation Department at J.
Frank Rozar Park. On Dec. 22,
parents paid $lO to leave their
children with volunteers at the
Rec. Department from 8 a.m.until
4:00 p.m.
While waiting for their parents
to return from last minute shop
ping, the children, ranging from 5
to 12 years of age, participated in
several activities. They also con
sumed snacks and lunches pre
pared hy the Recreation
Department staff.
Among the volunteers were
Sam Skellie, Savannah Ashley,
Billy Girard, Lauren Stanley,
Terri Karchella, Rose Douthit,
Haley Dean, and Carolyn Frazier.
The children wore name tags
made from a previous wood class
at the Rec Department. They par
ticipated in Santa’s Workshop,
where they worked on presents to
give to family members or
friends, fishing. Reindeer Games,
and Christmas caroling at
Autumn Terrace. Santa even
made an appearance during his
very busy season.
According to Day Camp
Director Terri Lovell, more than
70 children participated in this
pilot program.

inspectors access to facilities
which could house or manufac
ture such weapons in Iraq, a Navy
spokesman said.

home ported in Norfolk, Va., are
forward deployed around the
world to maintain a U. S. pres
ence and provide rapid response
in times of crisis. They serve as a
highly visible deterrent to would
be aggressors and, if deterrence
fails, off the most versatile and
powerful weapons available,
including Tomahawk cruise mis
siles and tactical aircraft.
The 1982 graduate of Perry
High School of Perry, joined the
Navy in June 1983.

She said Rec officials are plan
ning to have a Christmas Day
Camp i.ext year along with a New
Years Day Camp. The New Years
Day Camp will not be offered this
year.
Defensive Driving Course will
be offered at the Rec. Department
Jan. 30, 1999. Prior registration
with the department is required to
attend the class.
The class will be six hours in
length and a $25 fee will be
imposed. The class will start at
8:30 a.m. Persons taking the class
will be able to save 10 percent on
their automobile insurance.
Also being offered at the Rec
Department are a variety of class-,
es. The classes range from
Holiday Cooking Classes to Dog
Obedience Classes. An Arts and
Crafts Class is being offered
every Monday and Thursday at
3:45 p.m. with the Seniors classes
on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
A Step Aerobics class is also
being offered on Tuesdays and
Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and
Saturday mornings at 9 a.m.
Families whose children
received a bike from Santa and no
helmet was included can bring a
20-ounce drink bottle full of pen
nies to the Rec Department and
receive a bike helmet.
Helmets must be properly fit
ted to be effective. Fitting will

A Holy Ghost Revival wil be
held from Jan. 3 through Jan. 5

10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Jan. 3, and
at 7 p.m. on Jan. 4 and 5.
The Special Care Ministries of
