the Houston Times-Journal newspa
per, the designated legal organ for
Houston County and the city of Perry

Many leaai notices are billed at
the rate of $lO per 100 words or
portion thereof for each insertion for
the first four insertions Some specific
types of ads, such as divorce, arti
cles of incorporation, articles of
merger, petition to adopt, name
changes and DUI notices nave fees
set based on the number of times the
notice is inserted All rates ate set by
the Georgia General Assembly.
For billing purposes, every word
shall be counted as one word includ
ing words such os the, of, a, etc
Grouped numbers shall be counted
os one word
The deadline lot foreclosure notices
and tax sales for disposal March 2 is
Feb 1 at noon
Here are some of the types of
public notices included in this section
of the Houston Times-Journal;
Hearings and meeting
notices There are a wide variety
of public meetings which must be
held in order for a government to
take an action Among the most com
mon are notices ot panning commis
sion meetings at which rezoning
requests are to be acted upon and of
hearings when a city or county gov
ernment is setting a budget or tax
rates Sometimes these notices run as
bordered ads on these pages.
Sometimes, governments are
required to publish notices about
upcoming meetings, especially when
a meeting is to be held outside the
regular schedule of that government
or when a change will be made in
the regular time or place of meeting
Most of these notices are priced by
the $lO per 100 words fee
Estate notices There ore
some 20 different type of estate
notices which can be published, the
most common of which is a notice to
creditors to let the court know if a
deceased person owes them any
money Most estate-related notices
come from the county probate
judge's office, although some are
filed directly by attorneys Many of
these notices run four times at a cost

Incorporation notice
These are notices concerning a busi
ness which is to be incorporated with
the office located in Houston County
Related incorporation notices can
include an intent to dissolve a corpo
rate, a name change of the corpora
tion and mergers of a corporation
These notices typically run two weeks

Notice of election* and ref
erendum* This category covers
a wide range of issues from notices
to hold elections on alcoholic bever
age sales to notices on bond refer
endums to construct school buildings
in Houston County. Notices must
also appear concerning city and
county elections when candidates
are seeking elected public office

Bid notice* When a local
government is going to buy something
or have work done on a project, it is
often required to solicit bids via legal

Project STP 214-1(1) Houston County
hegin* nt SR 127 approximately 0.6 miias
east of Moss Oak Road (CR 211) and con
tinues south and east to limerock Road (SR
225). An exception to this project is the sec
tion of the South Perry Bypass to be con
structed under project NG-75-l(23) which
includes the addition of the 1-75 interchange
The exception begins at US 41 /SR 7 and
continues east past the 1-75 interchange for a
total length of 0.8 miles. Total project length
is 3.2 miles.
This oroject provides for the construction
on new location 2 lanes horn SR 127 to a
point 0.6 miles before SR 7. From there
South Perry Bypass will transition to four
lanes divided Dy a divided 44' depressed
grass median arid continue to the end of the
project at SR 225 (Limerock Road).
The proposed interchange will allow
access to 1-75 south of Perry as well as to the
Georgia National Fairgrounds and
Agriculture Center. The Bypass will provide
access to SR 127 on the west side of Perry
and to SR 225 on the east side, avoiding the
downtown Perry area
Drawings of the proposed project are on
file and are available for public inspection ot
the Georgia Department of Transportation
