Mrs. Winburn Earl Stewart Jr.
Collins, Stewart exchange
vows in rustic setting
Deidra Estelle Collins and Winburn Earl Stewart, Jr. were married
Oct. 11, 1998, at Walnut Creek Shooting Preserve. The Rev. Kenneth
Gross officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Franklin Collins
of Perry. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Hunt, Jr., of
Perry and the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rayford Collins of Fort Valley.
The bride’s maid of honor was Carolyn Stewart. Rebecca Franklin
of Statesboro was the bridesmaid.
Winburn Earl Stewart, 111, was the best man. Groomsmen were the
bride’s brother, Chadwick Collins of Conyers, and the groom’s brother,
Wade Dußose Burns of Atlanta.
A reception was held at the pavilion on the Walnut Creek Shooting
Preserve. After a wedding trip to Atlanta, the Stewarts are living on the
preserve, which is near Macon.

Tristan weighed 7 pounds and
was 19 1/2 inches long at birth.

Officials with the United
States Achievement Academy
announced that Brandon Wade
Spainhour from Perry has been
R resented the United States
lational Leadership Merit
Award and the USAA National
Honor Roll Award.
These awards also allow
Spainhour to apply for several
scholarships which are available
through the United States
Achievement Academy.
USAA officials say these
awards are a prestigious honor
very few students can ever hope
to attain. In fact, the Academy
recognizes less than 10 percent
of all American high school stu
dents.
Spainhour, who attends Perry
High School, was nominated for
these national awards by Hazel
Jackson, a counselor at the
school.
Spainhour will appear in the
United States Achievement

Tuggle shares joy of Japanese maples
with members of Garden Club

Bobby Tuggle was the guest speaker for the February meeting of the
Perry Garden Club. He gave a program on “The Joy of Japanese
Maples.”
Tuggle told the club members that there are 700 different kinds of
Japanese maples and that he and his wife Irene, have 70 varieties in their
yard, including one that is 30-feet tall.
Refreshments were served by Jaydee Ager, Joy Albright and Louise
Lawson, and included Valentine cookies, strawberries and other items
celebrating Valentines Day. The tables were decorated with red camel
lias.
The meeting was held at the Ochlahatchee Club House.
