number of residents about dan
gerous conditions and speeding,
the Houston County
Commissioners have approved
the installation of a three-way
stop at the intersection of Sandy
Run Road and Old Hawkinsville
Road.
Commissioner * Tom
McMichael, who brought up the
proposal at the March 2 meeting
at Perry City Hall, said he had
received numerous requests to do
something to slow the traffic
down, and that residents were
having difficulty getting out of
their driveways.
The Commissioners also dis
cussed ongoing efforts to obtain
rights-of-way to extend Cohen
Walker Road to Lake Joy Road.
portion of* tKeTana needed
is owned by the Houston County
Board of Education, and the
Commissioners will be talking
with the board soon regarding
the extension. Cohen Walker
Road begins at Houston Lake
Road just south of Ga. 96.
In other business at their first
regular meeting of March, the
Commissioners:

tion which could bring state
funds to the county for expanded
juvenile court services, particular
ly in the areas of making sure that
at-risk youngsters follow through
on probation requirements and
take part in some form of repara
tions for their crimes.
District Attorney Kelley
Burke presented the plan to the
Commissioners on behalf of his
office and that of Juvenile Court
Judge Deborah Edwards.
V Voted to do the landscaping
of the new Magistrate Court
building with county staff rather
than accepting bids from land
scapers.
V Heard a presentation from
Bobbe Nelson, who presented
the Commissioners with a copy
of the newly-reprinted history of
Houston County, “A Land So
Dedicated.”
