BIG WRECK - This truck was involved in an
accident along 1-75 March 26. Traffic was
backed up for a length of time as firefighters,
State Troopers, localpolice, and others tried to
clear the Interstate. Tne truck jack- knifed after

motion that took place during the March 16 City Council

Willie F. Hagan , 83, of 1321
Pembrooke Drive, Charleston,
S.C., died March 27,1999 at the
Roper Hospital in Charleston.
Services will be held at 2 p.m.,
March 31, at Christ’s Sanctified
Holy Church, with burial in the
church cemetery.
Born in Crenshaw,
Mississippi, Mr. Hagan had lived
in Charleston for several years
and had a second home in Perry.
He was a World War II Army
veteran, and a retired building
contractor. He was a lifelong
member of Christ’s Sanctified
Holy Church and served on the
church Board #1 for 37 years.
He is survived by his wife, Inez
Parker Hagan, his son and daugh
ter-in-law, William F. Hagan, Jr.
and Peggy D. Hagan, and his
brother Greorge E. Hagan, and
two grandsons, W. Franklin
Hagan 111 and Bra die)' R. Hagan,
all of Charleston; by two sisters,
Lula Mae Dillon of Wilmington,
North Carolina, and Mildred
Montgomery of Highlands,
North Carolina.
Wesley Chapel to host
singing convention

HAWKINSVILLE
Wesley Chapel Church will
host an all-day singing con
vention on April 10, with class
singing out of several new
Southern Gospel publications,
as well as performances by
groups and soloists.
The program will be from 1
p.m. until 5 p.m., with a cov
ered dish supper to follow. A
love offering will be collected
to benefit the church’s ceme
tery fond.
The church is located on
Wesley Chapel Road, which is
1/2 mile off Ga. 27 between
Hawkinsville and Vienna.

Ramon “Ray” Elizalde, 54, of
503 Stanley Street, Perry, died
March 22, 1999 at the Perry
Hospital.
Services were held at the
Freewill Baptist Church on
March 27, with the Rev. Gene
Cross and the Rev. Gerald Brown
officiating. Burial was in the
Dodges Cemetery in Mcßae.
Bom in Beeville, Texas, Mr.
Elizalde had lived in Perry for 30
years. He was a retired Air Force
staff sergeant and a former
Houston County meter reader.
He was a member of the Freewill
Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife,
Joyce Jordan Elizalde of Perry,
two daughters, Brenda Campbell
of Houston Texas and Julie
Elizalde of San Obisco,
California; a son, Romy Elizalde
of Victoria Texas, a stepdaughter,
Teresa Dawson of Jacksonville,
Florida, and three grandchildren.

Michael Houston Moore
Michael Houston Moore, 42,
of 158 Sixth Street, Cobb,
Georgia, died March 22, 1999 in
Cordele.
Services were held at Watson-
Hunt Chapel on March 25.
A former resident of Penv, Mr.
Moore was a self-employed taxi
dermist and a former guide at
Melico Plantation. He was a
member of the National Rifle
Association and Ducks
Unlimited.
He is survived by his wife,
Karen Sullivan Moore, a daugh
ter, Kelly Michelle Moore and a
son, Shane Michael Moore, all of
Perry; his mother, Mary Hale
Michie of Orlando, Florida; a sis
ter, Susan Kroos of Sanford,
Florida; two brothers, Tom
Moore and Charles Larry Moore,
both of Biloxi, Mississippi, a half
brother, Jim Burton of Bonita
Springs, Florida, and two grand
children.
