G. Rufus Trussell Sr.
BONAIRE G. Rufus
Trussell Sr., 73, died Sunday,
April 18,1999.
Services were at 11 a.m. April
20 at First Baptist Church of
Pern’ with interment at Butler
City Cemetery.
A native of Butler, Mr. Trussell
was the son of the late John Edgar
and Eva L. Windham Trussell. A
graduate of South Georgia Tech,
he was a retired district operations
superintendent for Flint
Electrical Membership Corp. He
was a Navy veteran and a member
of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Sue
W. Trussell; children John
Trussell,Joseph E. Trussell, Grady
Trussell Jr., Travis Hill and Peggy
Oakley, all of Warner Robins,
Lorie Hamby of Perry, and Todd
Hill of Hawldnsville; brother and
sisters, Luther Trussell of
Charleston, S.C., June Woody of
Brooks, Vivian Womble of
Fairfax, S.C.; and 10 grandchil
dren.

James Watt Rainey Sr., 82, of
Perry died April 19, 1999 at a
local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m.
April 21 at Second Memorial
Baptist Church of Perry.
Interment will be at Woodlawn
Cemetery of Perry.
A native and life-long resident
of Houston County, Mr. Rainey
was the child of the late James

wood frame, children's toys, fishing equipment, two microwave
ovens and much more.

Signol Rainey and Sarah
Bankston Rainey. He was a World
War II Army Air Corp veteran.
He was retired from the electron
ics division at Robins Air Force
Base with 32 years of sendee. He
was a member of the First Baptist
Church.
He is survived by his wife,
Geneva Riddle Rainey of Perry;
two sons, James W. Rainey Jr. of
* Marietta and William Mack
Rainey of Perry; two daughters,
Betsy R. Willard of Perry and
Judy R. Williams of Warner
Robins; one brother, Emmett
Rainey of Rockmart, N.C.; six
grandchildren and one great
grandchild.

Ceola Bell
Ceola Holmes Bell died April
8.
Services were at 11 a.m. April
17 at Richardson Funeral Home
with interment in Kings Chapel
Church Cemetery.
A native of Houston County,
Mrs. Bell was the daughter of the
late Batch and Liza Holmes. She
was a member of Kings Chapel
Christian Methodist Episcopal
Church and the Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is survived by her son,
Harold Tharpe; grandchildren,
Harriett Tharpe and Rosiland
Tharpe, both of Philadelphia; and
one great-grandchild.

Dana Jaros, 46, of Columbus died
in Perrv. There will be a table of delicious baked
goods for sale.

Doris Jaros of Fort Valley, and sis
ter and brother, Judy Johnson of
Albany and Mike Jaros of Fort
Valley.

Richard Francis Jr.
Richard Francis Jr., 66, died
April 15,1999.
Memorial services were at 11
a.m. April 17 at McCullough
Funeral Home of Warner Robins.
Burial was private.
An Army veteran of the
Korean War, Mr. Francis was a
self-employed carpenter and a
former employee of Bone
Maintenance.
Survivors include is wife,
Barbara Francis; children, Debra
Francis and Mike Francis, both of
Perry; Donna Lambert of Warner
Robins and Ricky Francis of
Grovania; several brothers and
sisters; and three grandchildren.

Don Garcia chosen as Middle Georgia
Technical Institute s GOAL winner

Don L. Garcia, a surgical
technology student at Middle
Georgia Technical Institute, was
named local winner of the
Georgia Occupational Award of
Leadership April 6.
The announcement was made
by Dick Walden, President/CEO
of the Warner Robins Area
Chamber of Commerce.
Garcia will receive a four-day
trip to Atlanta for the state judg
ing and awards activities. In
Atlanta he will compete with stu
dents from 33 other technical
institutes and one college with a
technical division throughout
Georgia for the title of State
GOAL Student/Winner and the
GOAL medallion. The grand
prize is a new car.
The objective of the GOAL
program, according to Linda
Churchwell, GOAL Coordinator
at Middle Georgia Tech, is to
recognize and reward excellence
among the more than 30,000 stu

The GOAL award is the first
statewide program in the nation
to honor outstanding technical
students.
In addition to Garcia, two
other students were recognized
for their outstanding achieve
ment, character and leadership.
They are Kelly Campbell of Perry
in the accounting program and
Judy Thompson of Warner
Robins in the cosmetology pro
gram.
The GOAL program is spon
sored statewide by the Georgia
Department of Technical and
Adult Education and the
Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Locally, the program is sponsored
by the Warner Robins Area
Chamber of Commerce,
WRING, Perry Area Chamber
of Commerce, Hawkinsville-
Pulaski County Chamber of
Commerce, Dooly County
Chamber of Commerce and
the 1999-2000 academic year.
One of the scholarships will go to the child of a
Federal Manager’s Association member, and the
other two will be awarded to middle Georgia seniors f
at large.
Applications must be received by April 26.
