Local VFW, Auxiliary honor civic leaders, law enforcement From Staff Reports The men and women of the VFW and Ladies Auxiliary, Post 6126, Perry, honored a number of local civic leaders and law APPRENTICES - Northrop Grumman is in its fifth year of participating in a youth apprentice ship program with Middle Georgia Tech and the Houston County School System. Employees who started out in the apprenticeship program include, from left, back row, David Anderson, Youth time at Northrop Grumman. Ten have received their AST diploma from Middle Georgia Tech. One has received his associate degree in applied sciences from Industry service to industry leaders such as McDonnell-Douglas, Boeing, Northrop-Grumman and Lucas Aerospace. This growth Hayley Greene named to CVB Authority From Staff Reports Haylev Greene has been named to the Perry Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Authority. The appointment was made at the April 20 meeting of the Perry City Council by Council member Charles Lewis. Greene, a former president of the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce who now works for Flint Electric Membership Corp. will fill the unex pired term of Scott Moseley. The council also approved a devel oper’s request to make the U.S. 41 entrance/exit to the Perrv Middle School a city street. City Manager Skip Nalley asked the council to consider the request made by Northside Perry Ltd. The developer will be responsible for upkeep of the 412 foot stretch of road for the next year. At the same meeting the council denied a request for an ingress and egress easement on City property sub mitted by Delta Equipment. Scott Free had asked for the easement on behalf of Delta, so that a short road on city property could be used during a construction process. Steve Howard, city building official, advised council that there were city pipes under the road and that the road might not hold up under heavy equipment. Council also refused a request from Ashley Pointe Town Homes for a res olution authorizing long-term proper ty tax reduction. Ashley Pointe offi cials are proposing a development of 132 town homes on St. Patrick’s Drive, St Christopher’s Episcopal Church 817-2180 enforcement officers at their April 22 “Loyalty Day” dinner meeting.
