Mayor Jim Worrall of Perry made a brief presentation, thanking the staff for their efforts. “You can’t congratulate a building,” Worrall said, “The people make the hospital what it is.” Also present for the occa sion were Dr. Skip McDannald, CEO of the Houston Health Care Complex, Barbara Calhoun ol the Houston County Hospital Authority; Chris Kinnas, Perry Area Chamber of Commerce President and Steve Rodgers, chairman of the Chamber board of direc tors. The hospital employees enjoyed a dessert bar as part oi the celebration. Julia Nell Shaw named MGT Instructor of the Year Special to the Times-lournal Julia Nell Shaw is Instructor of the Year for 1999 and Middle Georgia Tech’s nomination for the Rick Perkins’ Award of Excellence in Technical Instruction. Shaw has served Middle Georgia Tech as a Practical Nursing Instructor since 1993. In 1994, she assumed the additional responsibilities of Allied Health Division Chairperson and was instrumen tal in writing the Allied Health Youth Apprenticeship technical certificate of credit and the Certified Nursing Assistant tech nical certificate of credit. Shaw also initiated internship Library friends set annual book sale Special ti> the Times-lournal The Perry Friends of the Library will hold the old book sale Mil)’ 6-8. The sale will be held at the Perrv Public Library beginning May 6, from noon until 7 p.m., May 7 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., and May 8, from 9 a.rti. until noon. Shaw also served as Middle Georgia Tech’s 1997 Delegate to the Lighthouse Institute and the Georgia LPN Association Instructor of the Year in 1995. Shaw resides in Perry with her husband, Wally, Director of Bands at Houston County High Aviation Hall of Fame to induct three on May 1 ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE Two Medal of Honor recipients and a famous Georgia based aircraft producer will be inducted into the Georgia I lull of Fame on May 1. Hortman received a bachelor of business administration in management information system degree, Hortman has accepted a job with the IBM Corp. He is cur rently in Atlanta for six months then will transfer to Chicago, Illinois for his permanent location. Hortman is the son of Ed and Myra Hortman of Tifton. He is grandson of Edwin and Ruth Hortman of Roberta, and Dr and Mrs. R. C. Barnes of Byron. HORTMAN
