Flagpole announces new office site
Flagpole publisher Dennis Greenia announced Friday that work
will begin in August of this year on the new Flagpole office complex.
The complex wili be erected on the site formally reserved for the
proposed Clarke County Civic Center on Thomas Street. The Facility
will include the Flagpole offices, a nine hole miniature golf course,
batting cages, and, of course, an indoor shooting range. The
building will feature a classical facade, a point of great pride for
Greenia. Says the eccentric publisher, "Our building will have the
tallest and most erect columns of any building in town, and plenty o f
them!" An unidentified source at the Athens Banner-Herald, whose
new office building will feature a similar facade and is located next
to the new Flagpole site, was quoted as saying, “Everyone knows that
it’s just a myth that column size is important." (37.)
