The GeorgiaSquare Malts Out
side Theater refused to give us

yourself. Good luck.
ALPSONEMA
(548-5256)
All shows $1.50
The Lion King (G)
Doily5:25,7:30,9:35, Sat. Sun,
and Mon. matinees 1:15,3:20
• It was going to be called The
King of the Jungle, but then
they learned lions don't five in
the Jungle. Isn't Disney smart?
BEECHWOOD
(546-1011)
Immortal Belovod (R) - Start
ing Friday 1/27
2:05, 4:35, 7:05, 9:30 • Gary
Oldman stars as Lovely Ludwig
Van in this story about
Beethoven's ambiguous will,
which mentioned his Immor
tal beloved.' a woman whose
identity is still unknown. Mrs.
Oldman, Isabella Rossillini, co-
stars. I am greatly looking for
ward to this film by director
Bernard Rose (Papahousdi.
Highlander 3 (PG-13) - Start
ing Friday 1/27
2:30,4:45,7:30,9:45 • Appar
ently, Highlander 2: The Quick
ening was such a critical suc
cess the filmmakers felt
obliged to complete this impor
tant cinematic series.Thespian
extraordinaire Christopher
Lambert reprises his famous
role as the immortal Conner
McLeod.
Bod Company (R)
2;20, 4:55,7:25, 9:50 • I can't
imagine anyone liking this 2-
hour bore about crooked
judges, bribery, and double-
cross. It has about as many
thriHs as a Dean Witter com
mercial and as many laughs as
a Bergman film. Larry
Flshbume and Ellen Barkin give
the worst performances of their
careers.
Demon Knight (R)
2:15,4:30,7:15.9:25 • Decapi
tation, mutilation, demon pos
session. blood-draining, and
Billy Zone. What more could you
want in a movie? It was a very
gufty pleasure for me; and it will
be for you, too. Check it out.
Far From Home (PG)
2:10,7:10, • Far from the the
ater. A standard kiddie film
about a super dog.
Higher Learning (R)
2:00, 4:40, 7:00, 9:40 • John
Singleton's well-meaning fail
ure has one quality of note: It Is
the first film that can boast hav
ing an NCAA track meet held
in October. That's like having
the Super Bowl in July. Several
other things go wrong, and
many of them are much more
substantial, like the flippant
treatment of bisexuality, for one.
Little Women (PG)
4:10, 9:10 • Down to two
showtimes a day, you're run
ning out of time to catch Winona
Ryder, Susan Sarandon, and
Kirsten Dunst flirt with Eric Stoltz
and Gabriel Byrne.
Dumb and Dumber (PG-13)
2:25, 4:50, 7:20, 9:35 • Jim
Carrey warms up for his role
as the Riddler in Batman For
ever. Would this movie have
been cooler if Val Kilmer was
in It? No.
Pufe Fiction (R)
2:00,5:00,8:30 • Don't believe
the hype. Go see It for yourself:
it's terrific.
GA SQUARE MALL
(INSIDE 543-1632)
BttyModbontPG) .
Call for showtimes • Adam
Sandler tries t»ie silver screen
out in a film to rival Cabin Boy
and Opportunity Knocks as SNL
geeks gone celluloid. From the
director of CB4.
Nobody's Fool (R)
1:45, 4:15, 7:10, 9:45 • If Tom
Hanks beats Paul Newman for
Best Actor this year. I'm moving
to Canada. This is a joy to watch
and a tour-de-force for one of
the coolest guys working today.
Certainly among the best in
town.
Legends of the Fd (R)
1:30,4:20,7:00,9:45 • The real
challenge is keeping up with
Brad Pitt's facial hair changes.
Julia Ormond and Anthony
Hopkins do their best in keep
ing this mediocre tragic drama
afloat. Worth a matinee for
anyone who isn't a cynic.
Houseguest (PG)
2:05, 4:20, 7:20, 9:40 • If
Sinbad ever stays at my house.
I'll be sure not to turn on my
video camera. There really isn't
anything funny about spilling
tea on your pants.
GA SQUARE MALL
(OUT5IDE 548-9460)
Murder In Tho First (R)
1:50, 4:30, 7:00, 9:45 • The
true story of the shakedown
at Alcatraz comes to the
screen with a stellar cast in
cluding Kevin Bacon, Gary
Oldman, and Christian Slater.
Looks to be a lot of screaming
and fighting. Bacon spent
time in solitary to prepare for
the role.
LQ. (PG)
2:15,4:15, 7:20, 9:30 • In the
first of a rash of Einstein mov
ies coming out, Walter
Matthau plays the absent-
minded genius playing cupid
for an annoying Tim Robbins
and a hammy Meg Ryan.
Lame, silly, and watered-
down. this just isn't worth your
time.
Nd (PG-13)
2:00, 4:30, 7:10, 9:35 • So
what color dress will Jodie Fos
ter wear to the Oscars this
year? She should find room on
her wall of conceit for a third
trophy honoring her perfor
mance in this sweeping drama
about a wild woman tamed by
science.
The Jungle Book (PG)
2:00,4:25,7:15.9:40 • I bet the
tiger in this movie could beat up
the dog in Fa From Home.
Disclosure (R)
1:45,4:20,7:00, 9:40 • The fun
niest image of the year has
Demi Moore's disembodied
head flying at Michael Douglas
In some bizarre virtual reality
stunt that belonged in Demon
Knight. This is a truly despicable
movie.

nally here! The '50s film noir
with the glowing briefcase
used in Tarantino's Pulp Fiction.
Ralph Meeker stars as detective
Mike Hammer in a must-see for
film noir fans.
Fri.and Sat. 1/27-1/28
Bulets Over Broadway
3:00, 5:15, 7:30, 9:45 • This is
Woody Allen's best comedy in
years. Co-stars A Bronx Tale's
Chazz Palminteri and John
Cusack.
Hard-Boiled
Midnight • John Woo's big bud
get shoot-em-up has more bul
lets in it than I've ever seen. This
is seriously one of the coolest
action movies ever made, and
it's paced like a rocket. You'll be
sorry to miss It.
Sun. and Mon. 1/29-1/20
Okoge
3HX). 5:15,7:30, 9:45 • A new

richer.
GA THEATRE

Mon. 1/30
Clerks
7:00,10:00 • At times hilarious
and at times stupid, I rather
envy this low-budget attempt at
generation X comedy. Except
for that necrophilia scene...
