Them Ranch, The Gettin’
Headstones, Rocket 350
Tasty World
Athens is no stranger to the crusty, musty genres known
as "garage rock" and "psychobilly," so there's no excuse for
you so-called experts and self-styled aficionados to miss this
gig; it's gonna be a wild one.
Columbus, Ohio's Them Wranch is a no-frills, all-thrills rock
trio. Since forming in 1996, vocalist/drummer Joe Patt,
vocalist/guitarist Andy Rancii, and bassist/vocalist Gerald
Morrison have dished out the wondrous slop they like to call
"high-energy garage-psychedelic, blues-punk with some ‘60s
and 70s influences and a twist of twang."
The band's lo-fi debut album, Big Noise From East Maynard
(Ground Swell) is a 16-song concoction spiked with the nastiest, simple-minded guitar riffs,
drum fills and lyrical notions this side of the Rust Belt. Think Hasil Adkins meets The Doors meets
The Ramones.
The mysterious Gettin' Headstones hail from some town near Atlanta (so we hear) and report
edly play a haunted, ghoulish style of rock and raunch.
Rocket 350, as any Athens barfly with his head on straight would know, is a spry, punk-
fueled, true-blue, locally long-running psychobilly and surf rock trio that has released two
mighty slabs: 98's Monstrous Rockabilly Mayhem and 2000's Junglebilly. (BL)
