Coming to prominence during the
urban cowboy days of the early
'80s, Tennessee country singer John
Anderson has a rural delivery that
drops him in the traditionalist camp.
He's best known for his hits like
’Seminole Wind' and 'Solid Ground.’
BEFORE THE SOLSTICE (Tasty
World) Playing heavily melodic rock
and roll, this new local trio pulls on
sounds of classic 70s pop as well as
'90s alternative rock.
THE CHASERS (Georgia Theatre)
After more than a year’s absence, the
local country band returns to the stage
to run the gamut from honky-tonk to
hard country tales, covering the clas
sics and throwing in some originals.
The 2005 debut a'bum is simply titled
Volume 1.

his own remixes.

blending consumer-grade electronic

Featuring Julien DeRocher (guitar,
banjo), Larry Tucker (sax) and Aaron
Wegelin (drums), DeRocher's songs are
pastoral, emotional and sincerely mov;
ing folk-leaning works decorated with
electronic flourishes

Athens indie pop-folk band features
members of current and former local

Rob Lomax has been working on new
material for the past two years, and
it comes across as more upbeat and
energetic than his delicate early "urban
folk' stuff from 2003's self-titled debut
album
GREEDY WHITE CITIZENS (Tasty

used to perform as a duo called Gabriel
Young. Since going their separate ways
about two years ago, they’ve developed
as songwriters and have cultivated their
own audiences for soulful, acoustic

house deejay spins a cool mix of disco,
New Wave and modern dance tunes for

KEN WILL MORTON (Melting
Point) Local guitarist-vocalist Ken
Will Morton—frontman of the Wholly
Ghosts and host of the Melting Point's
weekly songwriter showcase "Uncorked
& Unplugged’—specializes in alt-
country rock songs that resemble an
early Ryan Adams and borrow from
Elvis, Dylan and Springsteen as well as
the Replacements. His newest album is
called King of Coming Around.
NANA GRIZOL (Caledonia) Theo
Hilton, formerly the mastermind of DIY
punk band Zumm Zumm, performs
under the name Nana Grizol backed
by members of Hot New Mexicans. Elf
Power and Folklore.
