SSU Reveals New Logo
On Monday, August 11,
President Earl G. Yarbrough
Sr., Ph.D., officially revealed
the new logo for Savannah
State University (SSU) for the
public during the Grand Re-
Opening Ceremony held for
Hill Hall.
The new logo is based on
the front facade of Walter
Barnard Hill Hall. The oldest
remaining building on
Savannah State’s campus, Hill
Hall was built by faculty and
students in 1901. The building
historically was the site for the
bookstore, student center, male
dormitory, and library. It will
now house the university’s
Enrollment Management cen
ter, which includes the offices
of admissions and financial
aid, along with administrative
offices for the president. Hill
Hall is a symbol of endurance
on the SSU campus.

expressing serious concerns
over the recent change of
name for the local club.
Communications from the
club is now under the head

of Greater Savannah." A
recent news letter seeking
financial support gives a
ninety year history of the
Boys & Girls Clubs of
Greater Savannah that mir
rors the Frank Callen Club's
history. It does not, however,
mention Frank Callen nor
any individuals or organiza
tions who played a role in its
ninety plus years of history.
After an involvement of
more than seventy years as a
member, volunteer, part -
time employee, coach, pro

uniquely identified with the
