The Bethesda Home for

hosting the 6th annual
Sycamore @ The Stadium
FREE baseball camp for
boys & girls ages 7-12 on
Saturday, November 8, 8:30
a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and Sunday,
November 9, 1:30 - 5:00
p.m. The Sycamore Network
of Churches has rallied 40
volunteers from its two con

business community to make
this a totally FREE event for
the kids.
Savannah Mall Chick
Fil-A is donating lunches for
the third consecutive year.
Other generous local spon
sors make it possible for
campers to receive free base
ball hats and t-shirts. The
Julia Bass Teschke
Foundation contributes the
largest financial support for
the weekend camp. Before
Teschke passed away in
2002, she had a vision. She
wanted to make a difference
in the lives of people
throughout the world, even
after she had left it. It was
her request that a large por
tion of her estate be used to
spread the Good News of
Christianity throughout the
world. One of the ways the
foundation does that is
through this baseball camp.
Because of this woman's
love for others, children all
over the Savannah area will
leam the basics of baseball
and the game of life as
coaches share their time,
passion, and life experiences
with the kids.
Pre-registration is
required and space is limited.

Family Violence Council sponsors a
seminar “From Awareness to Action
One in three American
families is affected by crime
each year. Although
Chatham County is fortunate
to have many excellent vic
tim service programs, we
know that during a trauma,
folks are more likely to see
the aid of a clergy person
rather than any professional.
Therefore, victim advocates
and faith leaders need to net
work and share information
on how to best respond to
crime victims.
Such an opportunity is
available Tuesday morning,
October 28 th when the
Savannah-Chatham Family
Violence Council sponsors a
seminar “From Awareness to
Action: What the Faith
Community Needs to Know
about Juvenile Crime
Victims and Offenders.” All
faith leaders are invited, par
ticularly volunteers and staff
who work with youth.
Speakers from the
criminal justice system will
talk about legal issues juve
niles need to know and a call
to action will be provided by
representatives of three
Savannah congregations
who will discuss innovative
responses to crime victims
and programs to prevent
juveniles from being
involved in crime. A panel of
crime victims will share their
powerful stories.
The seminar is $ 15 and
the registration deadline is
October 20th. Go to
www.chathamcounty.org for
info or call the Victim-
Witness Assistance Program
at 652-7329.

Helen P. Bradley, member
