Festival Lifetime
Achievement Award
Suzanne de Passe
Suzanne de Passe will be honored with a
Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence
in Entertainment on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the
2008 Savannah Film Festival, hosted by the
Savannah College of Art and Design. The
festival is scheduled for Oct. 25-Nov. 1.
Ms. de Passe, chief executive officer of
de Passe Entertainment Group, began her
career at Motown Records as creative assis
tant to company founder Berry Gordy. She
subsequently rose to the position of president
of Motown Productions and later formed
Gordy/de Passe Productions before establish
ing her own company in 1992.

Grand Opening of New Annex

Multiple Events Planned for October 18-23
The Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights
Museum, located in Savannah at 460 MLK Jr.,
Blvd announced Grand Opening Plans for it's
new Annex just east of the historic museum first
constructed in 1914 as the Wage Earners Bank
Building. The new Annex main entrance is on
Alice Street between MLK Jr. Blvd and
Montgomery Streets. Schedule of events
include:
• Saturday, October 18 & Sunday October 19,
2008 Prayer Service in multiple religious insti
tutions across the county. All houses of worship
are asked to offer prayers for the new annex and
museum.
• Monday, October 20, 2008 from 6:00 to
8:00 PM “FOUNDERS BANQUET” wherein
the museum will pay tribute to its Founding

Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity
Rewards Outstanding Service

The Savannah Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at its last meeting presented
several awards for outstanding service. The 2008 Kappa Of The Year Award was given to Brother
Edwin Morris. Brother Morris is a 1987 initiate of the Fraternity and is active in various functions for
the Fraternity. Brother Morris was presented the plaque by Polemarch Roy Simmons, Horace
Scandrick and his father, Brother Floyd E. Morris. Brother Floyd Morris is also a previous winner of
the Kappa Of The Year Award. The Fraternity also presented its Certificate Of Merit Award to Brother
Derrick Newton, who is a 1997 Initiate of the Savannah Alumni Chapter.

Savannah festival, to be held
along Martin Luther King, Jr.
Blvd., on Oct. 31- Nov. 2.
This year's honorary co
chairs, who are being recognized
as “Legends, Heroes and
Heroines,” for their work to
advance and enhance mankind,
will be honored at an historic
luncheon on Thursday, October
23,2008, in the Banquet Room of
the Con-Ed Bldg., located at 714
Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.,
from 12:00- 1:30 PM.

Adams, Jr., former Savannah
mayor and publisher of The
Savannah Herald, founded by his
father, Floyd “Press Boy” Adams,
