$20,000
Food Lion Opens New Neighborhood Store at
Skidaway and DeRenne

My husband is a Chatham County native and
graduate of Windsor Foreel High School He also
has a Masters qF Education from Georgia Southern
University. He is a Retired Army Veteran who
served our country for 22 years He has beer a
member ol the City of Pooler Planning and Zoning
Commission for the past 5 years and supports many
other community organizations. We attend the
Hunter Army Airfield Post Chapel and my Husband
is the HAAF Youth Ministry Coordinator We have
two children - David who is m the Navy and Jerri ka
who is Joining the Army Reserve l and many others
in the community believes my husband will make
an excellent Mayor* This is why I am standing with

United Way of the
Coastal Empire is excited to
announce a generous contribu
tion of $20,000 from Wachovia
Bank, a Wells Fargo Company.
This contribution will be used
to help low to moderate income
individuals and families in
owning a home in Chatham
County through the Individual
Development Account (IDA)
program.
In partnership with the
Neighborhood Improvement
Association, United Way's IDA
program assists first time
homebuyers to achieve home-
ownership.

individuals and families, and
making a positive difference
where we live and work,” said
Jenny Gentry, City President of
Wachovia Bank, a Wells Fargo
Company, in Savannah.

mitment to United Way. Their
spirit of giving shows how
much they care about our com
munity,” said Gregg Schroeder.

Food Lion unveiled its
new store in Savannah, Ga.,
located at 2208 East Derenne
Ave., with a ribbon-cutting
ceremony on Wednesday,
Oct. 14 at 8 a.m. The first
200 customers entering the
store received a free reusable
grocery bag filled with pri
vate label products.
The store opened to the
public following the ribbon
cutting ceremony and will
begin typical operating hours
of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
“Food Lion continues to
grow in the Savannah market
and we look forward to serv
ing our customers and the
community with our new
location,” said Tony Skipper,
director of Operations for
the market. “We are commit
ted to delivering quality
products and great value at
everyday low prices.”
“Our customers are
important to us and we are
dedicated to providing them
with an outstanding shop
ping experience,” said
Candy Munn who will serve
as store manager. “We also
look forward to partnering
with local organizations and
becoming an active neighbor
in the community.”
The store will have
approximately 53 associates,
with 35 positions created for
the new store, and will fea
ture a large fresh produce
department and a deli/bakery
with in-store decorated
cakes, specialty meats,
cheeses and breads, as well
as a large meat department.
Food Lion strives
to be a caring neighbor and
good corporate citizen in
the communities it serves
and directs its corporate giv
ing efforts toward feeding
the hungry, children’s health
and education, including
campaigns for Hunger Has a
Cure, Children’s Miracle
Network, Easter Seals and
United Way.
Also, Food Lion
Charitable Foundation
made financial contributions
to Calvary Baptist ay
School, Herschel V. Jenkins
High School.
