11th Annual White Coat Ceremony
Held for Memorial Explorer Post
Bethel AME’s Carrie Butler Women’s
Auxiliary to hold Annual Day

On Thursday, October
22nd, the 11th annual
Memorial Medical
Explorer Post White Coat
ceremony was held for thir
ty-six high school juniors
and seniors from the
Savannah Chatham Public
High Schools.
This partnership
between Memorial
University Medical Center,
Armstrong Atlantic State
University, Learning for
Life and the Savannah
Chatham Public School
System gives youth the
opportunity to do an in-
depth and on-going explo
ration of their chosen
Career Pathway throughout
the school year.
The White Coat
Ceremony marks the begin
ning of a year-long career
development program con
sisting of presentations,
demonstrations, basic med
ical skills practice, employ-
ability skills, hands-on
activities, campus and
worksite tours, presenta
tions and demonstrations.
Exploring, a sub
sidiary of Boy Scouts of
America strives to be
America’s foremost career
and character education
program for youth.
Special thanks are
extended to Memorial
University Medical
Center’s Susan Harper,
Ph.D., Heather Scott and
Garrick Throckmorton for
organizing this year’s
White Coat Ceremony, and
to Dr. Martin Greenberg
and Dewayne Cross,
Pharm.D., for their partici
pation in the ceremony.

Women Auxiliary of Bethel
A.M.E. Church will cele
brate their annual day at 11
:00 a.m. The guest minister
will be the Rev. Lolita
Hickman of Connors
Temple Baptist Church,
where the Rev. Bennie R.
Mitchell is the pastor.
Rev. Hickman com
pleted seminary and was
ordained into the Gospel
Ministry in 2007; however,
her lifelong gospel-singing
ministry and her extensive
work experience both with
in and outside the Church
have contributed to her wis
dom in Christian living and
church leadership. To God
be the Glory!
Because of her great
passion for the exposition
of the Word of God, and her
sense of urgency concern
ing salvation and disciple-
ship, Rev. Hickman has
been blessed to preach and
conduct Women's Retreats
and Bible Studies through
the Savannah, Georgia area,
as well as in Maryland,
Florida, North Carolina,
Virginia, and Illinois.
Rev. Hickman
received her Bachelor of
Arts degree in Psychology
and Master of Science in
Industrial Psychology from
Southern Illinois
University, Edwardsville,
Illinois. She graduated Cum
Laude from the Samuel De
Witt Proctor School of
Theology at Virginia Union
University (STVU), earning
a Master of Divinity degree.
Rev. Hickman is mar
ried to Norval (Joe)
Hickman. Natives of
Rev. Lolita Hickman
Illinois, and recent resi
dents of Maryland, the
Hickmans relocated to
Savannah in 2007.
They are the proud
parents of three adult chil
dren, and one granddaugh
ter.
Bethel A.M.E. Church
