Sabria Jones Named South Georgia
Youth of the Year
Sheriff Department Announces New
Appointment
Sabria Jones and Karen Hamilton, Unit Director for the
Frank Cullen Boys and Girls Club
Boys & Girls Clubs of
America has honored St.
Vincent's Academy sopho
more Sabria Jones as one of
the top three members of the
110,000 served by Boys &
Girls Clubs across the State
of Georgia.
Sabria has been a mem
ber of the Frank Callen Unit
of the Boys & Girls Clubs of
the Coastal Empire for 6
years. Sabria has worked
her way up through the lead
ership ranks and has now
become one of her club's
most helpful and dependable
volunteers. Last year Sabria
was even awarded Volunteer
of the Year at St. Vincent's
beating out the entire student
body as a freshman!
Sabria takes full advan
tage of the B&GC programs,
one of them being the
Keystone Club. Keystone
Clubs are chartered small-
group leadership and service
clubs for boys and girls ages
14 - 18. Sabria was recently
elected by her peers as the
President of the Keystone
Club and this last
March she enjoyed attending
the National Conference in
Orlando where she met other
B&GC members from liter
ally all over the world.
Sabria would like to
eventually major in Mass
Communications.

Major Kim Middleton
Chatham County
Sheriff A1 St Lawrence has
appointed Major Kim
Middleton as the new Major
over the Corrections
Bureau’s Security
Operations The appointment
will officially took effect
April 1,2012.
Middleton brings a
wealth of experience to the
office.
She has worked for
Chatham County Sheriff’s
Office for 23 years.
Middleton ran the CCSO’s
Professional Standards Unit
which she helped establish
with Colonel Terry Enoch.
“I am grateful for the
opportunity to serve Sheriff
St Lawrence and join the
team of people who are
bridging the gap between the
past and future of this organ
ization,” Middleton said.
Middleton, will be recog
nized at the Chatham County
Sheriff’s Office Spring
Awards Ceremony on April
19, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the
Savannah Morning News
auditorium.

said, “ Both promotions are
well deserved.”

sented awards to students
throughout the state March
25th at the Woodruff Arts
Center Rich Auditorium in
Atlanta The theme this year
was “Diversity Means.”
Dominique Nichole
Hairston received second
place for her presentation in
dance choreography.
Dominique, a kindergarten
student, joined four other
students who were finalist
from the Esther F. Garrison
School for Visual and
Performing Arts. National
PTA believes all children
deserve a quality arts educa
tion and encourages students
to pursue artistic expression
through participation in its
annual arts Reflections
Program.

students the opportunity to
create works of art for fun
and recognition. Students in
preschool through grade 12
are encouraged to create and

the Savannah Career Fair,
which will highlight career
opportunities across the City
organization. The fair will be
held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tuesday, April 17, in the
Savannah Civic Center
Ballroom.
With almost 2,500
employees, the City of
Savannah is one of the
largest employers in the
region, offering competitive
pay and benefits, and an
array of career opportunities
in fields as diverse as Water,
Police, Sanitation, Traffic,
Information Technology,
Park and Tree, Housing,
Fire, and Finance.
Residents are encour
aged to come in, bring their
resume, talk directly with
department representatives,
and find out whether they
would be a good fit for
employment. Prospective
interns are also encouraged
to come learn about intern
ship opportunities. About
five years ago the City of
Savannah’s Human
Resources Department tran
sitioned to an online job
application system, which
both streamlined the applica
tion process and increased
the number of job applicants
from across the country. The
career Fair is an opportunity
for the City to focus on and

submit works of art in one or
more of six areas: literature,
musical composition, pho
tography, visual arts (which
includes art forms such as
drawing, painting, print
making, and collage), dance
choreography and
film/video production. In its
more than 30-year history,
the program has encouraged
millions of students across
the nation and in American
schools overseas to create
works of art.
Students participate in
the Reflections Program by
submitting entries to
their local PTA or PTSA.
Any PTA/PTSA in good
standing is eligible to
sponsor a Reflections
Program.
Career Fair
