Hickman Announces Bid for 5th
District Chatham County Commission
Warren has been a resi
dent of Savannah’s 5th
District for 52 years! He
was bom in Ridgeland, SC.
“ We should move for
ward on issues that affect
development of a Trade
Center Convention Hotel,
and encourage the state for
additional funding to see it
through. I would support all
efforts to expand Tatemville
Community Center and proj
ects that strengthen commu
nities,” Hickman said. “I
think that my field in the
travel and tourism business
allows me to strengthen the
commission greatly with
vision and perspective. The
Chatham Commission
should be mindful of
SPLOST Projects and secure
Projects that truly benefit
this community, especially
as it relates to jobs and the
business community.”
Warren has completed
coursework while in the mil
itary as well as at SSU,
Savannah Tech, and the
Warren Hickman
University of Phoenix. Most
of his career has been dedi
cated to the fields of avia
tion, transportation and
tourism. Currently, he is the
general manager and co
founder of K-Shuttle of
Kelley Tours. He runs the
company’s transportation
services at Savannah
International Airport, with
offices in Hilton Head and
Garden City. He also serves
as member of Savannah
Area Chamber of
Commerce, the South
Carolina Chamber of
Commerce, and Tourism
Leadership Council of
Savannah. He holds several
Red Cross certifications, and
participated with the Red
Cross in Louisiana during
the aftermath of Hurricane
Katrina.
He worked as field
organizer and deputy direc
tor for the Obama Campaign
in 2008, supervising the
efforts of more than 100 vol
unteers to get President
Obama elected to office.
After the campaign, he
served as a Vice-Chair of
CCDC. In November 2010,
he worked with the
Coordinated Campaign of
the DPG to facilitate GOTV
activities for this important
mid-term election.Warren
wants to be Alderman for
District 5 because of “ busi
ness and family.” Warren is
the father of four children.
Goldwire Announces Candidacy for
District 6 School Board Representative
Dr. Alfreda J.
Goldwire, veteran educator
and union president
announced her intentions to
run for School Board District
6 Representative on April 30,
2012 at 10:00am in front of
the Board of Education. Dr.
Goldwire moved to
Savannah in 1988 and has
worked as an elementary
teacher at Bartow, Gadsden
and Butler Elementary
School.
Dr. Goldwire received
her B. S. in Health,
Recreation and Physical
Education from Savannah
State University and Middle
Grades Certification from
Georgia Southern
University. She received her
Master Degree in education
from Cambridge College and
a Doctorate in Religious
Education from Covington
Theological Seminary.
Prior to moving to
Savannah, Dr. Goldwire
Dr. Alfreda J. Goldwire
served as Program Director
for Senior Citizens with the
West Philadelphia Mental
Health Consortium and
Philadelphia Corporation for
the Aging. She was also a
Physical Education teacher
at Sheppard Elementary
School with the School
District of Philadelphia.
Dr. Goldwire believes
in providing quality educa
tional opportunities for
everyone. She is committed
to making certain that the
Savannah Chatham County
School System is fair, acces
sible, and dedicated to all its
children, its employees and
the parents of the children
who attend school each day.
Dr. Goldwire knows that
communication is critical,
and it is her goal to include
all workers in the processes
and decisions made by the
Chatham County Board of
Education. She understands
that children are our most
important asset, and the
school system employees
have a point of view into the
challenges the children face
and can bring new ideas into
the problem-solving process.
Their voices should be
heard.
Dr. Goldwire is married
to retired Air Force Master
Sergeant Freddie Goldwire.
They have five adult chil
dren.

place recognition in the
Frederica S. Wilson Sisterly
Relations Award. This award
is named in honor of former
South Atlantic Regional
Director (1986-1990), Mrs.
Frederica S. Wilson and rec
ognizes sorority members in
the region who exemplify
sisterly deeds rendered
toward other members of
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Inc.
Saleem was initiated
into the sorority in 2007
through the Gamma Upsilon
chapter at Savannah State
University. Saleem has
served as Ivy Leaf Reporter
and Chair of the Public
Relations committee and
currently she is the chapter
Hostess, Chair of the Global
Poverty committee, and
member of the chapter's
Protocol, Standards, and
Founders’ Day Observance
committees. Saleem is also
on the board for Gamma
Sigma Omega’s foundation,
MARTHA, Inc.
Prof. Saleem is a facul
ty member at Savannah State
University, teaching English
Literature and Language.
She also works at the Law
Offices of Lester B. Johnson,
III, PC. She is an active
member of Living Hope
Community Fellowship and
a host of other service organ
izations including the Junior
League of Savannah, the
National Council of Negro
Women, and The
#BlockParty Movement.
