Thomas to be Honored at
West Broad Street YMCA
Dr. Priscilla Thomas
On Tuesday, May 29 at
10 am, the West Broad Street
YMCA will honor Dr.
Priscilla Thomas for her
work with the children of
Chatham County.
Dr. Thomas has been
instrumental in the lives of
many children for many
years,” says Board Chair
Darrell Naylor-Johnson.
“Our board wishes to recog
nize her service as an exam
ple to others and to thank her
for all she has done and con
tinues to do.” She has pio
neered many projects and
initiatives designed to help
children become productive
adults.
In recognition of her
amazing work, the Board of
Directors of the West Broad
Street YMCA will be dedi
cating its Pre-K room in her
honor.
This event is open to
the public.

Bryant Announces Candidacy for
Savannah School Board District 3
Jabari R. Bryant
announced his candidacy for
the Savannah Chatham
County School Board
District 3 position 7:00 pm
May 12, 2012 to dozens of
enthusiastic supporters at
Carey Hilliard’s Restaurant
on Skidaway Road.
Jabari Bryant is a grad
uate of the Savannah
Chatham County Public
School System and the
University System of
Georgia. Finishing H.V.
Jenkins High School and
Georgia State University,
Mr. Bryant is a product as
well as champion of public
education. Mr. Jabari Bryant
is currently Executive
Director of Today for
Tomorrow Incorporated (a
nonprofit community
improvement corporation)
and serves on the Board of
Scattering Resources
Incorporated (a nonprofit
disaster response and relief
corporation based out of
Atlanta, Georgia). Mr.
Bryant is also a former edu
cator and coach having
worked in the Jasper County
School District.
Jabari Bryant’s cam
paign platform focuses on an
increase in transparency in
district finances and the
decision making process;
increased performance and
results within the district
academically and overall;
and greater accountability on
all levels in the public educa
tion sphere (including stu
dents, teachers, administra
tive and within the commu
nity) and increased partner
ship with community
improvement organizations.
Gillespie to Seek Candidacy for
Chatham County
Commission District 3
Bill Gillespie has
announced his plan to seek
the candidacy for the
Chatham County
Commission serving District
3. The Democratic Primary
election will be held on July
31, 2012.
With a military back
ground, including leadership
experience, Gillespie retired
from the U.S. Army in 2007
as a Lt. Colonel after serving
our country for 23 years. He
has led organizations of over
6,000 personnel and has
managed operational main
tenance and supply budgets
exceeding $60,000,000.
Bill earned B.S. and
M.A. degrees in
Environmental Science from
Towson University, in
Bill Gillespie
Maryland, and a Masters in
Military Arts and Science in
Military History, at the U.S.
Army Combat Studies
Institute, at the Command
and General Staff College,
Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.
Gillespie has continued
active involvement in the
Savannah community, work
ing with organizations such
as: the American Red Cross,
Rotary, Ancient Order of the
Hibernians, Veterans of
Foreign Wars, Historic
Savannah Foundation,
Telfair Academy, Downtown
Business Association,
Savannah Chamber of
Commerce, Small Business
Chamber, Savannah World
Council, Coastal Clean-up,
Sustainable Coast, NAACP,
Hungry Club Forum and
Working America. He is also
a graduate of the City of
Savannah Citizen’s
Academy.
Mayor Bronco Bostick Named
Male Extraordinaire

Bronco Bostick, winner
of the 2011 Male
Extraordinaire Spirit of
Excellence Business Award
has won a landslide victory
over his opponent Sal Arzillo
for a second term as
Hardeeville’s first African
American Mayor.
In addition to being
named the 2011 Male
Extraordinaire, he is the
recent recipient of many
awards including the Omega
Psi Phi Fraternity Citizen of
the Year and Hardeeville
Senior Citizens Appreciation
Awards.
Mayor Bostick is a
graduate of the University of
South Carolina-Beaufort and
Midland College with a
degree in Fire Science and
Public Administration.
Among his many certificates
is the Economic Growth and
Development sponsored by
the SC Department of
Commerce.
Mayor Bostick and his
wife, Luteley, a nurse practi
tioner, are the parents of a
son, Rodney, a Citadel cadet,
and a daughter, LaToria, a
nurse.
Mayor Bostic will also
play a key role in The Spirit
of Excellence Business
Award 10th annual celebra
tion that will be held October
20, 2012 at Savannah
Marriott Riverfront.
