Girl Scouts Celebrate 100 Years of
Girl Scouting
SCHOOL BOARD
InH DISTRICT
Greenbriar executive director Gena Taylor with
BE THERE as we attempt w
TO BREAK;
GUINNESS BOOK Of WOBLD RECORDS!
On May 15th 2012, 10
Girl Scouts and five moms
flew from Crested Butte,
Colorado to Savannah,
Georgia to celebrate 100
years of Girl Scouting.
Along with celebrating Girl
Scouting by visiting the
Juliette Low Birthplace, the
girls also wanted to do some
thing for the Savannah com
munity.
The girls chose
Greenbriar Children's Center
as well as The Magdalene
Women and Children's shel
ter. The girls made 30 care
packages for these organiza
tions by using their money to
buy supplies, made fleece
blankets and asked local
businesses for donations.
The girls also visited
WW Law Learning Center
and did an art project with
the children as well as gave
books. After three amazing
days filled with great adven
tures, the girls favorite part
was the time spent with the
pre-school children. The
group went to the beach, a
dolphin tour, a candy tour,
visited the Juliette Gordon
Girl Scout Troop
Low house, yet they loved
the time spent with the chil
dren the best. The girls
learned how wonderful it is
to give, not just with the chil
dren they spent time with but
also the children that will
receive their care packages.
The girls earned patches for
many of their activities in
Savannah. What the girls
learned from giving will
always be with them and the
love they felt from the pre
school children is really the
best gift they could receive.
