7. DO YOU NEED TO CAST AN ABSENTEE BALLOT BY MAIL?
You must submit an APPLICATION for an ABSENTEE BALLOT. Applications for ABSENTEE
BALLOTS to submit by mail are available beginning September 21 and end November 2, 2012. The
APPLICATION must be returned (mail, fax, e-mail) in time for your Absentee Ballot to be mailed to
you so that you can return your ABSENTEE BALLOT to the Voter Registration Office postmarked, or in
person, no later than the close of the polls on Election Day, November 6, 2012.
8. DID YOU VOTE IN THE 2008 GENERAL ELECTION?
You should be eligible to vote in the November 6, 2012 General Election. However, if you have
not received a New Voter Registration Precinct Card, have moved, changed your name, or have become
incapacitated, PLEASE contact the Chatham County Voter Registration Office, or the Voter Registration
Office in your county/state of residence to check your voting status immediately.

Election Day, please contact the Student Affairs Office at your college, or the Voter Registration Office
in your county/state of residence and request the application for an ABSENTEE BALLOT. OR, you
may ask your parents, guardians, siblings, or close relatives (must be 18yrs or older and prove relation
ship to you) to formally request that AN ABSENTEE BALLOT be mailed to you from your local Voter
Registration Office.

couples in this witty adapta
tion of Thornton Wilder’s
playlet The Message and Je-
hanne. Jealous fiance's and

a delightful ode to the old-
fashioned romantic comedy.

ciation, Inc. announces the
2012 Cuyler Community
Ursuline B. Law Human Ser
vices Scholarship.
The Cuyler Community
Scholarship is to provide
financial support for those
persons residing in the city
of Savannah. The applicants
must be registered in at least
their second semester with
an accredited college, uni
versity, or technical school
pursuing the study of various
fields of medicine; i.e. nurs
ing, physicians, therapists
etc. This scholarship will
apply to undergraduate or
graduate studies. Submission
of an academic transcript is
required with the minimum
of a B average. The appli
cant’s residence in the city of
Savannah must be verified in
writing (proved) They are
required to submit two letters
of recommendations from
non-relative adults and a per
sonal letter of need.
This annual schol
arship is in the amount of
$ 1,000.00 each for the top
three candidates; if there are
two finalists, $ 1500.00 each
and if one finalist, $ 3000.00.
It is not a repetitive scholar

Deal’s initiative to increase
the numbers of Georgians
earning a degree, reached an
other milestone with the re
lease of a report with specific
plans by institutions in both
the University System of
Georgia and Technical Col
lege System of Georgia. The
campus plans detail exactly
how the ambitious goal of
adding an additional 250,000
postsecondary graduates to
the state’s rolls by 2020 is
going to be met. As institu
tions begin to implement the
plans, higher education offi
cials point out that they will
receive continued assistance
to improve the plans and will
be held accountable for prog
ress.
Armstrong Atlantic
State University is imple
menting a number of initia
tives in support of CCG,
which include efforts to im
prove access to Armstrong
for traditionally underserved
groups; improve student suc
cess and completion rates;
and increase alumni engage
ment that helps support in
coming students, existing
students and new graduates.
Some highlights in support
of these goals follow.
The university has
established the Armstrong
Commitment Fund, a new
financial assistance for en
rolled students that provides
funding for the gap between
the financial aid students
receive and what they can
afford. Recipients of the
Commitment Fund will also
receive financial counseling
to foster fiscal responsibility
and knowledge that will ben
efit them long after gradua
tion.
In Summer 2012,
Armstrong implemented the
inaugural Summer Challenge
program which provided stu
dents who showed academic
promise the opportunity to
study on campus before the
start of the academic year
and become members of the
new freshman class.

Transit Week’’ from now until
Sept. 21, 2012. “Try Transit
Week’’ calls upon all citizens
to join in a nationwide effort
to promote transit’s benefits,
honor transit employees and
encourage new riders to TRY
TRANSIT; and, demonstrates
public transportation’s ability
to save money, conserve gas
oline, and reduce the harmful
greenhouse gases emitted into
our environment.
During “Try Transit
Week’’, Chatham Area Transit
will sponsor a contest to pro
mote public transit through a
contest that will award daily
prizes and a final grand prize.
There will also be an opportu
