On Sept. 17, two lit
tle girls from Hodge Elemen
tary School were tragically
hit by a car in front of Beach
High School while walking
home from school. Since that
tragic day, Brianna Quarter-
man has been fighting for her
life and Aaliyah Washington
has battled injuries related
to the accident. Now, Beach
High school is going to battle
for these little girls; the fac
ulty is taking on the students
in a charity softball game.
The faculty and stu
dents at Beach High School
are going to battle it out on
the softball field. The game
will take place, Saturday
Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. at Derenne
Middle school, 1009 Clinch
St. The game is a part of a
fundraiser to help the fami
lies of the two little girls hit
by a car outside of Beach
High School.
The game is free to
attend; however, donations
will be accepted. Conces
sions will be sold and all the
money collected will be do
nated to a fund set up by the
family of Brianna Quarter-
man and Aaliyah Washing
ton.
Beach High School
is a close knit family and
when any of our students is
affected by a tragic event,
our team rallies to do what
ever needs to be done for
our family! Although the
two little girls are not Beach
High Bulldogs, they will be
one day! And Brianna Quar-
terman’s older sister is cur
rently a senior at Beach High
School.
The faculty and
students at A.E. Beach High
School are also coming to
gether to support Brianna
and Aaliyah during a Penny
War competition. First pe
riod teachers will put “jars”
in their room to collect do
nations in the form of loose
change. The contest will
run from now until Oct. 19,
2012. All money collected
will be donated to a fund set
up for the families of Brian
na Quarterman and Aaliyah
Washington.
