Light the Night Walk
Friday October 12
The Georgia Chap
ter of the Leukemia & Lym
phoma Society (LLS) an
nounces the 14th Annual
Savannah Light The Night
Walk (LTN), to be held
on Friday, October 12, at
5:30pm at Forsyth Park. The
Walk encourages teams of
families, friends, co-workers
and local and national cor
porations to come together
to raise funds for LLS. This
will be one of five Light The
Night Walks held in the state
of Georgia this Fall.
“Encouraged by the
success of last year’s Light
The Night Walk in Savannah,
we are proud to be back and
working with the local com
munity in the Coastal Empire
and surrounding counties to
make this year’s Walk even
more successful,” said Kelly
Dolan, executive director of
the LLS Georgia Chapter.
“We have received
a tremendous amount of sup
port from these communities
and it really shows in the
enthusiasm demonstrated by
our partners, sponsors and
Walk teams for the Light
The Night Walk in this area.
We are currently working to
reach our goal of $219,500
and we could not do this
without the many volunteers
and participants who helped
this Walk.”
The Savannah Walk
will draw over 140 teams and
3,000 participants, and funds
raised will be used to fund
lifesaving blood cancer re
search, free educational ma
terials and events for patients
and families, local family and
patient support programs and
comprehensive, personalized
assistance through LLS’s In
formation Resource Center.
During the event, walkers
carry illuminated balloons
- white for survivors, red
for supporters and gold in
memory of loved ones lost to
cancer — and form a commu
nity of caring, bringing light
to the dark world of cancer.
Top Walk sponsors
include Memorial Health,
Wells Fargo, Courtney
Knight Gaines Foundation
and Seacrest Partners.
