CHURCH NEWS AND OTHER FEATURES
Prepare to Meet Thy God
Evan. Rachel Thomas
You might say, “ I
am an atheist-I do not believe
there is a God.” Well, God’s
answer to you is, “The fool
that said in is heart, there is
no God,” (Ps. 14:1). Your
unbelief in No wise alters
the fact that God Is. “In the
beginning God created the
heavens and the earth” (Gen.
1:1). “For the invisible things
of Him from the creation of
the world are clearly seen, be
ing understood by the things
that remade, even His eternal
power and Godhead; so that
they are without excuse,”
(Romans 1:20).
The Bible says, “
The fear of the Lord is the be
ginning of knowledge (Provb.
1:7a). The fear of the Lord is
the beginning of wisdom,”
(Provb. 9:10a). You may have
a master’s degree, but if you
do not fear God, the knowl
edge you have is worthless.
“Because the foolishness of
God is wiser than men.” (I
Cor. 1;25), and “The weak
ness of God is stronger than
men,” ( I Cor. 1;25). “For
what are a man profited, if he
shall gain the whole world,
and lose his soul?” (Matt.
16:26). And this the condem
nation that light is come into
the world, and men loved
darkness rather than light, be
cause their deeds were evil,”
( John 31:19). “As it is writ
ten, there is none righteous,
no not one,” (Rom. 3:10-11).
There is only One
God- “Thus saith the Lord,
the King of Israel, and His
Redeemer the Lord of Hosts:
I AM the First, ,and I AM the
Last; and beside Me, There is
No God.” (Isa. 4406).
God has only One
Church Though the world has
many religions, and though
“Christianity has many de
nominations, God has only
“One” Church.
Jesus said, “I am the
Way, The Truth, and the Life:
No man cometh unto the Fa
ther but by me (John 14:6).
One Lord, One Faith, One
Baptism” (Eph. 4:5)
How does one pre
pare to meet God?!,’’’But
with faith, it is impossible
to please Him: for he that
cometh to God must believe
that He Is, and that He is a
rewarder of them that DILI
GENTLY SEEK HIM” (Heb.
11:6). “And Ye shall seek Me,
and find Me, when Ye shall
search for Me with all your
heart,” (Jere. 29:13).
“Repent and be baptized Ev
ery One Of You in the name
of Jesus Christ for the Re
mission of Sins, and ye shall
receive the Gift of the Holy
Ghost.- For the promise is
unto You, and Your Children,
and to ALL that are Afar Off,
even as many as the Lord Our
God shall call,” (Acts 2:38-
39). “Repent ye therefore,
and be converted, that your
sins may be blotted out, when
the times of refreshing shall
come from the presence of
the Lord,” (Acts 3:19).
Read Your Bible - “He that
believeth on me, As the
Scripture Hath said, out of
his belly shall flow rivers of
living water,” (John 7:38).
“For we are His workman
ship, created in Christ Jesus
unto good works, which God
hath before ordained that we
should walk in them,” (Eph.
2:10). “And ye shall know
the Truth, and the Truth shall
make you free,” (John 8:22).
“If the Son therefore, shall
make you FREE, you are
free indeed,” (John 8:36).
“Let us hear the Conclusion
of the Whole Matter: FEAR
GOD AND KEEP illS COM
MANDMENTS: FOR THIS
IS THE WHOLE DUTY Of.
MAN” (Ecel 12:13).
“What shall we say
then? Shall we continue in
sin that grace may abound?
God
Forbid. How shall
we, that are dead to sin, live
any longer therein?” (Rom.
6: 1-2). “For as many as are
led by the spirit of God, they
are the sons of God,” (Rom.
8:14).
Does God’s spirit
lead a person to Sin? NEV
ER! Praise God, when we.
really get saved, God gives
us Power so that we don’t
have to sin. “Know ye not
that the unrighteous shall
NOT inherit the kingdom of
God? Be not deceived: nei
ther fornicators, nor idola-
tors, nor-adulterers, non
effeminate, nor abusers of
themselves with mankind,
nor thieves, nor covetous,
nor drunkards, nor revilers,
nor extortioners, shall in
herit the Kingdom of God.”
(I Cor. 6:9-10).
“But, the fearful
and unbelieving, and the
abominable, and murder
ers, and whore-mongers,
and sorcerers, and ALL Li
ars, shall have their part in
the lake which burneth with
lire and brimstone: which
is the second death (Rev.
21:8) Real Christians do not
so such things. The promise
to the True Believers is that
“God shall wipe away all
tears and there shall be no
more death, neither sorrow;
nor crying: nor pain, for the
former things are passed
away (Rev. 21 :4). Jesus
said, “Man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every
word that proceedeth out of
the mouth of God,” (Matt.
4:4). He that hath an ear to
hear, let him hear. The whole
Bible is God’s word, and His
will. God Bless

Generation Next
I just celebrated
my 43rd birthday and I had
a heavy dose of reality. For
so long, I have been known
as a good, energetic, young
preacher. For years, I have
had older ministers speak of
the days full of promise that
lies ahead and encourage me
to enjoy this moment, for
one day it will all be a dis
tant memory. Anyone who
knows me will tell you I have
never been a fan of birthdays,
and getting old has always been an issue for me.
As I witness more rising and settings of the sun
I have grown to understand, as I age my role in life has
to change. No longer can I wear the emblem of “Boy
Wonder” and try to do everything myself. For time has
taught me that it is ok to ask others for help.
Please don’t laugh at the revelation that I am
about to confess, I truly just realized that there is a gen
eration coming behind me to pick up the mantle, and
take us to the next level. Don’t misunderstand me, at 43,
I am not ready to be placed in a home, or in somebody’s
grave. What excites me is the promise that there is a
younger, faster, smarter, energetic young preacher out
there just waiting to build on the foundation that I have
laid. I realized that anything that I may have accom
plished at Second Baptist is only because I was build
ing on what Rev. Edgar Perry Quarterman and James
Cantrell left me.
Even in my home life I watch my son grow ev
eryday, along with the accomplishments of my nieces
and nephews and the only thing I can do is smile for I
know that the next generation of the Brown family is
ready to take us to a new level. My oldest niece Atricia
is a Florida State Graduate working on her MBA. Her
younger sister Alexis is an Alabama University graduate
now interning with the Atlanta Hawks. And my twin,
my nephew James, is a Morehouse graduate pursuing
a hostile takeover of Bank of America. Really, I don’t
mind getting old because I know that Generation Next is
ready to take over. The task left for me is to make sure
they have a strong foundation to build on.
