Completes U.S. Navy
Basic Training
On November 14,
2012, Navy Seaman William
E. Oleary Cole, son of Fran
Oleary of Savannah, Ga.,
completed U.S. Navy basic
training at Recruit Training
Command, Great Lakes, Il
linois.
During the eight-
week program, Oleary Cole
completed a variety of train
ing, which included class
room study and practical in
struction on naval customs,
first aid, firefighting, water
safety and survival, and ship
board and aircraft safety. An
emphasis was also placed on
physical fitness. The capstone
event of boot camp is “Battle
Stations’’. This exercise gives
recruits the skills and confi
dence they need to succeed in
the fleet. “Battle Stations’’ is
designed to galvanize the ba
sic warrior attributes of sac
rifice, dedication, teamwork
and endurance in each recruit
through the practical applica
tion of basic Navy skills and
the core values of Honor,
Courage and Commitment.
Its distinctly ’’Navy” flavor
was designed to take into ac
count what it means to be a
Sailor.
Oleary Cole is a
