Liberty County Development Authority
Pledges $100,000 For Manufacturing Training
T he Liberty
County De
velopment
Authority (LCDA) voted
to support the expansion
of workforce development
training for Precision Manu
facturing in Liberty County
with a five-year, $100,000
pledge to support Savannah
Technical College in build
ing and equipping a state-
of-the-art Precision Manu
facturing Flex Tech lab at
its Liberty Campus.
This new construc
tion would nearly double the
lab space currently avail
able for industrial-related
instruction and will be cus
tomized to support the spe
cific industries that operate
in the region.
“We are proud that
the Liberty County Devel
opment Authority has made
such a strong commitment
to expanding precision man
ufacturing training,” says
College President Dr. Kathy
Love. “We know that our
manufacturing partners re
quire a highly-skilled work
force in order to continue

to Liberty County, but the
demand for manufacturing
education exceeds capacity
at every campus location.
This Precision Manufactur
ing flex tech lab expansion
will help the College’s pro
grams and equipment keep
pace with the demand in
Liberty County.”
Manufacturing is
making a major comeback
in southeast Georgia.
Statistics show
that regionally, more than
200 manufacturers have a
total annual payroll of near
ly $700 million and employ
more than 14,000 workers,
making this sector of the
local economy critically im
portant to economic devel
opment and quality of life.

community activist and Pas
tor of the First Congrega
tional Church in Savannah’s
Historic District, formally
announced his candidacy for
City Aldennan-At-Large,
Post 2, in the upcoming No
vember election. The office
is currently held by Tom
Bordeaux who is not seek
ing re-election.
A resident of the
historic Cuyler/Brownville
neighborhood of Savannah,
G. Lind Taylor is drawn to
run for office due to the nu
merous conversations with
residents indicating a desire
to see long-term plans for
growth and development,
while at the same time, ex
panding options for growing
the already booming tourism
economy within the city.
“It’s time for new leadership
and a new forward-looking
vision. I’m running for City
Council to bring a well-
planned and disciplined ap
proach to running our city.”

cert Series is fulfilling the
mission of the Coastal Jazz
Association (CJA), to keep
Jazz alive in Savannah and
preserve its rich history.
CJA also has a mission in
fundraising and providing
scholarships to jazz student
musicians. Its programs in
clude the annual Savannah
Jazz Festival, monthly jazz
concert series, and the Sa
vannah Jazz Hall of Fame.
