November 8, 2011 General
Election. The tenn of office
for all of these public offi
cial will end on December
31,2015.
City Elections in
Savannah are considered
“non-partisan” which indi
cates that there are no Party
Primaries and the candidates
are not required to declare a
party affiliation.
In addition to May
or Edna Jackson, all of the
members of the City Coun
cil, except Post 2 Alderman
at Large Thomas Bordeaux
Jr., have announced that
they will seek re-election.

Pre-Labor Day Weekend Bash
Fantasia, Anthony Hamilton, Lyfe Jennings
It’s the 1st Annual
Labor Day Weekend Concert
featuring Fantasia, Anthony
Hamilton and Lyfe Jennings
to be held on Thursday eve
ning, September 3, 2015 in
the Martin Luther King, Jr.
Arena at the Savannah Civic
Center. Doors open at 7pm.
The host will be Comedian
“Big E” (Eric Wilkins).
Fantasia Barrino
may have won the third sea
son of American Idol with
“I Believe,” but it was her
passionate take on George
Gershwin’s “Summertime”
that had everyone talking for
weeks.
Bom and raised in
High Point, North Carolina,
Barrino fell in love with mu
sic through the recordings
of Monica, Brandy, Aretha
Franklin, Pink, and — in
keeping with her diversity
— Aerosmith.
Barrino made his
tory when she became the
first artist ever to debut at
number one with her first
single, “I Believe” — written
by Idol alum Tamyra Gray.
Anthony Corne
lius Hamilton (bom January
28, 1971, Charlotte, North
Carolina. He is an Ameri
can R&B singer-songwrit
er, and record producer
who rose to fame with his
platinum-selling second
studio album Cornin’ from
Where I’m From (2003),
which featured the title
track single “Cornin’ from
Where I’m From” and the
follow-up “Charlene”.
Not that he’d wish
it on anyone, but it was
during his ten-year sentence
in prison that Lyfe Jennings
developed his honest sound,
thanks to isolation and
Erykah Badu.
His musical aspi
rations started in the
church choir and grew up
in the Dotsons, a teenage
group that Lyfe formed
with his brother and a cou
ple cousins.
