Free HIVTesting on June 27
The Coastal Health
District HIV Prevention
Program will offer free HIV
testing on June 27 in obser
vance of National HIV Test
ing Day. Testing will take
place at several Walgreens
in Savannah and results will
be available in one minute.
A follow-up visit will be
scheduled for anyone who
tests positive and counseling
will be made available to
those individuals.
The U.S. Center
for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) estimates
around 1.2 million people in
the United States are living
with HIV, and one in eight
people don’t know they
have it.

Commission Bible College
Friday, May 18, 2018. She
was recommended to the
Board of Trustees by Elder
Nikia Eason.
This is such an
honor to receive this pres
tigious Honorary Doctorate
Degree. My Many years
of service has always been
about Kingdom Building as
it continues throughout my
life. May the work I’ve done
speak for me”, stated Garri
son.
Garrison was bom
at a Naval Base in Pensaco
la, Fla. to Margaret & Mar
ion Joyner. She moved to
Savannah before turning a
year old and was raised by
my grandparents, Willie and
Blossie Johnson. She attend
ed public schools in Savan
nah until after I completing
9th grade at Alfred E. Beach
Jr. High School she was
relocated to Newark, N.J.
Before leaving Savannah
Garrison was baptized at
Tremont Temple Missionary
Baptist Church at the age of
5 years old. She served on
the Usher Board and served
in the George G. Faison
Choir and served in a Young
Mother’s Ministry helping
and Tutoring Children.
Garrison graduat
ed from Weequahic High in
Newark, N.J. in 1968. She
attended Martland School
of Nursing for 3 Years and
graduated with an RN Di
ploma Nurse in 1971 and
continued her education
attending Jersey City State
College working towards
my B.S. Degree in Nursing.
She worked at Martland
Hospital in the Pre Mature
and Dmg Addicted Nurs
ery for Babies bom from
Addicted Mothers. She
returned to Savannah in
1976 to provide care for
her grandmother, before her
death. She was employed at
Georgia Regional Hospital
as a Staff Nurse. She attend
ed Armstrong State College
and later transferred to GA.
Southern University to com
plete her B.S N. Degree that
she started at Jersey City
State years earlier. Garri
son graduated in 2002 from
Georgia Southern with a
BSN in Nursing, as the Out
standing Senior of my Class
and Magna Cum- Laude at
the age of 50 years old.
Garrison also
worked part time at St. Jo
seph Hospital and Clark
Center at Memorial Hospi
tal in order to be financially
able to send her daughter,
(now Dr. Angela Jacobs) to
college.
Other accomplish
ments include: a former
member of the International
Poetic Society, Sigma The
ta Honor Society, Golden
Key Honor Society, Savan
nah Faith and Coalition for
Youth and Families serving
as a Mentor for Troubled
teens in School. A Found
ing Member of the Local
and National Black Nurses
Association serving as the
current Chaplin and former
President and Vice presi
dent.
Garrison is a cur
rent member of a Christian
Non-Profit Organization and
serve as the Grand Matron
of the State of GA. for over
3 years with 41 Chapters
and over 450 Members in
the State of Ga.
Garrison is an
ardent Member of Trem
ont Temple Baptist Church
where Rev. Quentin Morris
is the pastor. She serves as
a Sunday School Teacher
and organized the Nurses
Guild Ministry. She serves
the Hospitality Ministry,
Fonner President of Home
Mission, She mentors to
young ladies and young men
whenever the opportunity
presents itself..
In a letter to the
National Body of Christ
Ministries and School of
the Great Commission Gar
rison stated, “I hope I am
chosen to receive the wave
of “Conferring” the Degree
of Honorary Doctor of Di
vinity/Christian Leadership,
so I will be able to finally
achieve something that I al
ways believed in my heart
and spirit that Jesus Loves
me and I have a Special
anointing to care for people.
It would be an honor as it al
ready is to be recommended
by Elder N. Eason. My jour
ney will continue to build
God’s Kingdom.”

total playoff minutes, will

put up a fight against the

at 9 PM. If necessary, Game
5 will be on Monday, June
11 at 9 PM, Game 6 will be
