Professor J. S. Searcy, principal of the
Culleden high school, paid us a pleasant
visit on Tues ay.

that the paper will not lie crowded with

The show next Thursday will draw quite
n crowd. It will probably be the hist and
biggest show the citizeus of this section
ever had an opportunity of seeing.
It is claimed that the oldest elephant in
America will he exhibited next Thursday
with Howe’s show.
Messrs; W. H. Dent, B. H. Ray and
Wm. Harris, ot Macon, have been in town
during the week.

furniture these days. People have learned
to buy here at city prices and save freight
expenses.
On yesterday, while Air. Adam Hortman
was working on some of the machinery ot
his mill, he had the fore finger of his left
hand broken.

ory Grove left us in the lurch this week.
Mr. J B. Wilson, of the Central Citv,
was out last .Sunday to see his Crawford
county friends.
At least 500 head of cattle have been
driven through this place recently, which
were being carried to Macon.
Mr. John Crockett is permanently lo¬
cated here as a cotton buyer. Knoxville
will contiuue to spread herself.
Our Hickory Grove correspondent speaks
disparagingly of Knoxville’s cotton market.
Ho has been away from town several
weeks, and is not up with the times. We
liSjVe a cotton market as good as that ot
Macon, and some of onr merchants offer
to. sell goods as low as they can be bought
auywhere in Midd’.e-Georgia. Knoxville
marches onward.
