Jim and Nancy Thoma
son celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary with a
family reunion hosted by
their daughter Susan and
Kerry Mortensen at their
home in Franklin, Tenn.
Four of their six children
and six of their 12 grand
children were there for a
long weekend of talking,
swimming, watching home
videos, shopping and lots of
eating.
Present were the
Mortensens’ sons, Kerry
and his wife Sue who live in
Brooklyn. N.Y., and
Matthew who is a sopho
more music major at the
University of Georgia; the
Thomasons’ daughters Jill
Smith of Perry and three of
her children, Stephen,
Hannah and Chelsea
(Rachel and Sam could not
be there due to All-Star
tournament softball and
baseball games in Georgia.
Hannah was also on an All-
Star team, but her games
were played before the
reunion.), and Elizabeth
and Steve Schotta with
their son, two-year-old
Stephen of Appleton, Wise.;
and their son Jim Thoma
son from Atlanta.
The highlight of the
weekend was the presenta
tion of a memory book that
had been prepared by
Susan using stories written
by family members telling
what they recalled from
their growing-up days with
the family. Each one read
aloud what they had writ
ten which brought a lot of
laughs and a few tears, all
being captured on video
tape.
Jim and Nancy report
they miss Perry friends and
family but really love being
in Clearwater. They have
Joined Friendship United
Methodist Church which
they report truly lives up to
its name.
