Robins Federal Credit
Union's new branch located
at 321 Perry Bypass just
north of Perry is now open.
The Perry Branch is a
full-service branch which
offers drive-through lanes
and a drive up ATM.
The official ribbon cut
ting will take place Oct. 19,
according to Credit Union
officials.

Ervin Wesley Goodroe Sr.
Ervin Wesley Goodroe Sr., 58, of 215
Piedmont Road, Atlanta, died Oct. 8, 1999.
at his home.
Services were held at the First Baptist
Church of Perry Oct. 11, with the Rev.
David Fisher officiating. Burial was in the
Perry Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Goodroe was a native of Schley
County, and a resident of Atlanta and
Perry. He was president of the Executive
Construction Suppliers Association, for
mer state president of the Georgia Jaycees
and former president of the Georgia Group
Funds Association. He was a member of
the Hayneville Baptist Church,
branches in Middle Geor
gia. Chartered in 1954,

businesses and associa
tions in the Middle Georgia
Area.

They cook “for an army” with nutrition in mind!

H carT feel like feeding an army,
but for Nutrina Whitehurst that is normal
and fun. Whitehurst helps feed an average
of 580 teachers and students each school
day at Perry Primary School.
Whitehurst, a 20-year veteran of the
school cafeteria, said it is important to
introduce young people to various fruits
and vegetables.
“We want the children to eat more fruit
and vegetables. Perry Primary is a training
school. We hope to train the kids to eat
nutritious food. We hope when they are in
high school, they will have already devel
oped good nutrition habits and just contin
ue with eating right,” said Whitehurst.
The meals prepared at the Houston
County schools are low fat and low sodi
um.
“We developed menus for Perry Primary.
We stick to the guidelines and then geared
it to what the children like,” said White
hurst.
She said the favorite menu items are
always pizza and chicken nuggets, but said
she found the little children always eat
what is served.
However, preparing good healthy meals
five days a week is not just a by chance
operation. According to Whitehurst school
