Glass bringing prison ministry team to midstate

The Bill Glass Prison
Ministry is returning to
Georgia this year. It will be
held in Milledgeville and
will return to p erry in 2001.
The Apnl 7-9 Prison
Weekend. called “The
Weekend Of Champions"
will include events at nine
large state prisons and
three youth prisons Some
8200 inmates ar housed in
the facilities near
Milledgeville.
Local spokesman Emory
Wilson said the Ministry
will need 360 men and 150
women to reach all of these
inmates. Headquarters for
the ministry will be at the
Holiday Inn in Milledgeville.
Glass, the founder and
CEO of the Ministry, was in
Milledgeville last week,
speaking to a full house at
the Local Ownership Chap
ter Kick-off Banquet at
Georgia College & State
University. Some $8,583
was raised.

Heart has released the
group's first compact disc
recording.
“Beginnings” features
some of the singers’ most
requested songs, including
“No, Not One”, “He Leadeth
Me” and “Shine on Us."
The group, which
includes Terry Wood and
Dorothy Sichelstiel of Perry,
and Leann Blythe of Macon.

"We take a layman or
woman, teach them how to
use the Four Spiritual Laws,
train them how to witness,
assign a veteran counselor
to help them in the prison,
and give them on the job
training," Glass said.
“These freshman coun
selors will come back to
their church and immedi
ately get involved in the Out-
Reach Program,” he added..

There are already 225
men and women trained as
counselors from Peach and
Houston counties.

Abe Lincoln visits Kings Chapel School

low and a lamp to illumi
nate him, Abraham Lin
coln came to life for Kings
Chapel Elementary stu
dents Jan. 12,
The scene was set by
Calvin Bell, a third grade
student at Kings Chapel
Elementary, who narrated
for the students where
they were and what they
were about to see and
hear.
Jim Conine, better
known to the kids as
Abraham Lincoln, trans
ported his audience back
to the 1800’s. The chil
dren sat on the floor in
front of their presenter
and listened intently as
Honest Abe told the story
of his life from his birth in
1809 to his death in 1865.
