Demonettes take top spot in first meet at Fountain Pool

Warner Robins hosted the
first home meet of the season at
the newly renovated Fountain
Pool on Thursday, December 12
against Baldwin, Northside,
and Perry.
The Warner Robins girls won
first place with 133 points.
Second place was Baldwin
High with 94, Northside with
44, and Perry with 20.
Leading the team with 14
points was Mallory Hawkins
who placed first in the 100 Fly
and the 200 IM and Erica
Inman who took first in the 500
Free and the 100.
Back to also earn 14 points.
Katie Inman contributed 12
points to the Demonettes with
her first and second in the 100
Free and 500 Free respectively.
Maya Uddin had 10 points
with her two second places in
the 50 Free and 100 Breast.
Elicia Resta earned seven
points with a third in the 200
IM and a fourth in the 500 Free.
Samantha Taylor added five
points with her finishes in the

WR Youth Signup - Warner Robins
Recreation Department is holding registration
for the youth basketball program from 8 a m.
to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the recre
ation department. The league is for girls ages
5 to 12 and boys ages 5 to 17. The child must
be of age by December 31,2002. Cost is $25 for
Warner Robins city residents and SSO for
Houston County residents. The child’s height
and birth certificate is required upon registra
tion.

The Warner Robins girls dom
inated the 200 Medley Relay
and the 200 Free Relays with
two first places with the team of
Hawkins, the Inman sisters,
and Uddin.
In addition the team of Resta,
Harris, Hall, and Taylor placed
fourth place in the 200 Free
Relay while Bundy, Taylor,
Resta, and Minter were third in
the 200 Medley Relay.
The 400 Free teams placed
third with Hall, Haller, Harris,
and Minter. Rounding out the
scoring in fifth place were
Bundy, Wood, Siragusa, and
Oliver.
The lead scorers for the
Demons were Kevin Spencer
with 12 points in his Ist place
the bench the whole time and
Harrison joined her at picking
up a fourth foul in the opening
minutes of play.
“I told her not to get any more
and she went out and got a
quick one,” Baxley said.
Harrison eventually fouled
out.
Wacker, however, returned in
the fourth quarter and proved
Houston County a spark with
six of her 12 points in the final
eight minutes.
“I was trying to block every
thing in the first half,” Wacker
said. “I had to be more careful
and just go straight up in the
fourth.”
The boys contest was much
less tighter as the Bears clung
to a 37-35 lead in the opening
’ minutes of the third quarter
Houston County used a 20-8
run to take a commanding 57-

The season will run from Tuesday, January

is holding registration for youth cheerleading
classes from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Monday and
Thursday at the YMCA Office on Russell
Parkway for ages 5 through 14.

Trudeau finished 2nd in the 100
Free and 3rd in the 50 Free for
a total of nine points.

“We expect a real good
turnout,” Moss said. “Last year,
we had it here at the school and
it was packed. We had so many
people in here you couldn’t
breathe or move.”
This will mark the fourth
time in five years the meet will
be held at McGill.
“It’s nice the kids get to play
in something other than a
school gym,” Moss said.
The event will have schools
all the way from Woodstock
competing.
“We’re going to have several
AAAAA schools on down,” Moss
said. “It’s going to be a tough
meet. It’ll be a good test for us.”
Moss says there will be
admission cost although one
hasn’t been set as yet.
The matches begin at 5 p.m.
on Friday and run to around 10
p.m. The semifinals start at 9
a.m. on Saturday with the
finals beginning at 5 p.m.
“We expect to have a good
time,” Moss said.
